It's the final Sketch Challenge at Unscripted Sketches. I loved being on the design team for those sketches, and they have invited me back for the farewell Sketch design.
I used the beautiful paper and sticker I received from UmWow!'s Nature Walk Collection for my design ... they are so perfect for masculine card designs.
The stamped Happy Birthday sentiment is from Crafter's Companion Everyday Sentimentals - Imagine.
I'm also joining the Brown Sugar Challenge where the theme is Birthdays.
We're still creating cards with layers for Jingle Belles. I decided to use this week's Unscripted Sketch for my design.
I layered on three Cosmo Cricket papers from the Sleigh Ride Collection, as well as layering on a sentiment rectangle.
I went searching for a die cut work for the title/greeting and saw my Impression Obsession Santa Sleigh Die cut that had never been used ... it was perfect for the finishing touch (especially since I used *Sleigh Ride* papers). I finished with an SRM Sticker sentiment border along the bottom.

Tonight I needed a baby shower card for twins. I started with the Making the Rounds Challenge at CAS on Sunday and combined it with this week's Unscripted Sketch.
The genders are unknown, so I used neutral hues from Pebbles Seen & Noted Collection.
Two storks ... two congrats ... and two paper-pieced bundles from Lawn Fawn's Plus One Stamp Set.

I've had these Halloween tag stickers sitting on my studio table for several weeks with the intention of making some more Halloween cards to get in the mail ... when I saw this week's Unscripted Sketch, I knew exactly what to do.
Quick, easy & oh-so-fun ... made with paper scraps too (I knew that tiny bit of lime green glitter paper would come in handy one of these days) ... love Dracula's googlie eyes.
I'm also inspired by Papercraft Star with my Witch & Kitty Cat ... and I'm having some fun at the Paper Issues Halloween Hootenanny.
I did some studio reorganizing today. I picked-up quite a few new rolls of washi tape on my trip to NYC, and was out of storage space ... so I packed up a few rolls (together with lots of 6" designer papers) in a flat rate mailing envelope. I recently picked-up this cool Canning Jar Die Cut & Embossing Folder, and wanted to give it a try for the Canning Jar Recipe Swap at Catered Crop. I die cut my jar from blue cardstock and then again from silver shimmer paper for the lid and clasp.
As I was thinking about how to fill my jar, I had a flashback to sitting at our dining room table when I was in the 6th Grade ... intensely drawing my entry for the Missouri Conservation Association Poster Contest ... I remember drawing a poster-sized canning jar with all sorts of farming and conservation elements inside ... with the title We Must Conserve to Preserve (no I wasn't a winner, but I did get to go to award ceremony and enjoy a big bowl of ham & beans ... oh the things I remember).
So I decided to use some fun Reminisce Dimensional Stickers to fill my jar with Iowa farmland images. I also added some coordinating Washi Tape across the top for the Moxie Fab World Stickers & Tape Challenge. The layout is this week's Unscripted Sketch.
This is my final post as a Design Team Member at Unscripted Sketches ... I've truly enjoyed designing with such a talented group.
When I saw this week's Sketch, it reminded me of Inchies, so that's what I used.
I wanted to make a *thinking of you* card for a friend who loves his four legged friends.
I stamped the four different Inkadinkado doggie inchies on the same whtie designer paper I used for the background of my card, and then used a sparkle pen to add a littel glitter to each one. A few layers and a sticker sentiment, and this card is off in the mail.
I decided to see what would happen if I combined salt & Spectrum Noir Re-inkers. I started with my favorite salt (love it on roasted veggies).
Next I chose four Spectrum Noir re-inker colors ... I went with two lighter shades, and two darker hues.
I started by squirting out bits of each ink onto my craft sheet.
Next, I starting painting from top to bottom on a thick piece of watercolor paper. I started with a dark shade ... and then blended a bit of the next color into in it ... and just kep moving through my colors blending them together. I ended-up with something that looked like this (pardon the variation in color throughout the post ... these were all photographed on my craft table with my point & shoot camera, which doesn't give the best true lighting).
I went ahead and painted a second one being a bit more haphazard with my colors ... and then poured on some salt.
After leaving it for several hours, I started to notice some reaction, but not as much as I'd hoped, so took off the salt, filled a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol, sprayed each piece of paper, and then put the salt back on overnight. Here's what the finished result looked like.
Love that cool effect. Here's the second one.
I decided a wanted a bit more blended look with this one, so I gave one more spritz of alcohol, and used a bit more re-inker to blend ... I didn't lose the cool salty effect.
Next I stamped Sheena's big beautiful butterfly from Flying Colors in India Ink and clear embossed. I detail cut around the butterfly, so it could fly off my card.
I positioned it where I thought I wanted it, and then stamped Flowing Happy Birthday in India Ink and embossed again. I ended-up stamping the big flourish from Flying Colors to Finish the design using this week's Unscripted Sketch.
Here's the finished result ... love the dimension on the butterfly. I attached my inky panel using foam tape, for a bit more dimension.
Love the fun salty inky effect.
I love playing with my rainbow of Spectrum Noir re-inkers.
I have some flower stamps that look just like the design elements in this week's Unscripted Sketch ... but this is *Unscripted* Sketches after-all, so I went searching for something a bit more creative you used in my design ... and that something ended-up being Unity's Happy Pinwheels.
I stamped the Pinwheels twice on Green designer paper and twice on Yellow designer paper (both from Crate Paper by Maggie Holmes) and then started detail cutting. I cut the entire pinwheel out of one paper, and then just the inside from the contrasting paper to layer on top.
I used micro glue dots to attach black gems to the centers. I stamped the Pinwheels again on the craft card base, and then used only a large glue dot in the center to attach the Pinwheels, so I could fold up the edges for a bit of dimension.
The sentiment is from a Empowered Words, a Donna Downey set from Unity ... a good reminder for me this week.
I used this week's Unscripted Sketch with images, papers and embellishments from the Everyday in Mulberry Wood Papercrafting CD-Rom.
The little bunny in her cute little dress will be perfect for my niece's birthday. I printed the images twice in slightly different sizes to get a larger sentiment and focal flower ... I inked both with a little Memento Bamboo Leaves ink & added a little bling to the flower centers to finish.
Finished card is 4 1/4" square.
I had a request for a sports-themed birthday card that was perfect for this week's Unscripted Sketch.
Just cardstock and a little embossing on the background to for this CAS masculine design.
