Woodblock Wednesday Thank You

It's time for another Woodblock Wednesday with Amy T.

 

 

What comes after Christmas Cards ... Thank you cards of course.  I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch together with FOUR different Woodblock Thank You stamps from (top to bottom on the card - the fourth one kept falling over when I tried to stack them) Stampabilities, Paper Source, Stampin' Up and Wordsworth by Rubber Soul.

 

 

I paired my stamps with four colors of Blue Versafine Clair Ink (I think it works best with woodblock stamps) and two Gelliarts Gel Press Prints.

 

Mid-Autumn Festival

The October Lunar New Year Challenge has the additional option to create a card for the Mid-Autumn Festival. 

 

I was not familiar with that holiday, so I did some research.   I learned that it is a harvest festival celebrated on the night of a full moon.  The festival is based on the legend of the Moon Goddess who is accompanied by a Jade Rabbit who lives on the moon, so I found my rabbit from Lawn Fawn Snow Day.

 

 

The images I saw featured Red & Gold and some lotus flowers, so I incorporated those colors  with the Mama Elephant Knot of Luck Creative Cuts Frame and some flowers from the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Floral Wreath Add-on that I accented with some AlteNew Metallic Gold Gem Sparkles. 

Since the festival is a time to be grateful for the harvest, I used a vintage Stampin' Up sentiment.

Luxe Glitter Birthday

I had fun playing Tic-Tac-Toe with Retro Rubber.  I went with Horizontal along the bottom with my choice being embossing.

 

I embossed teal cardstock with the Retro Cuttlebug Decorative Tile Set embossing folder (I sort of miss my Cuttlebug ... so simple and effective).

 

I used the Die-Versions Solo Happy Birthday Die (that dates back to at least 2017) from the gorgeous Simon Says Stamp Luxe Glitter Cardstock.

I finished with a tiny wood-mounted Stampin' Up sentiment from 2006.

Cupcake Inspired GelliArts Card

When I saw today's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge, I smiled because they were the same colors for today's #colorconspiracy24 GelliArts print.

 

I started by making my print using the Mirror Mirror Mask from the Klimt Collection by Elizabeth St. Hilaire for Joggles.

 

 

I trimmed my panel down to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" for my card base and added a strip of the blue cardstock to ground my sentiment and 3-D sticker image.

 

 

Sentiment is very vintage Stampin' Up.

I love when my GelliArts prints go immediately into greeting card fun.

 

 

I'm also joining the Stencil Challenge at Just Us Girls.

 

Woodblock Birthday Collage

It's time for another Woodblock Wednesday with Amy T.

 

 

Birthday Stamps are some of the Woodblock Stamps I save the most of.  This Stampin' Up Woodblock was part of a set called Four Square, but this is the only stamp I still have.  I added it to a collage that I personalized for a friend's birthday who loves board games, coffee and books.

 

 

I built my collage using a layout from Sketch~N~Scrap Challenge with some inky scraps and vintage papers ... I even stamped my sentiment on a scrap of vintage dictionary page.

 

Celebrating You!

My card started with wanting to join the Seize the Birthday Embossing Challenge.

 

 

Next, I saw the Color Challenge at The Paper Players, so I embossed some hot pink cardstock to go with my black & white.

 

 

I combined four vintage woodblock stamps from A Muse, Impress and Stampin' Up for my white square using the layout from Atlantic Hearts Sketch. Bin also joining Sentimental You Challenge at Little Red Wagon Challenge, since mt three sentiment stamps are the star of the show  

 

 

Sentimentally Yours

The newest Challenge at Shopping Our Stash is to create a card where the Sentiment is the Star.  Pull out those quotes or sentiment stamps or dies - or maybe look into your already stamped/printed stack and see if you have any waiting to be used (avoid stamping images ... we want the sentiment to be the star).

 

 

I started by Die Cutting my favorite large Die-Versions Happy Birthday Die Cut from a relatively solid Blue Gelli Print.

 

I attached it to a rectangle die cut from another gelli print (this one made with Pan Pastels & the Taylored Expressions Mini Slim Cable Knit Stencil).  

I realized my sentiment was slightly off center, so to help solve the balance issue, I added a Stampin' Up birthday balloon punched from a scrap of the same gelli print and tied on with some thing ribbon).  I attached it all to a light purple card base.

Jingle All the Way

This week we're playing Tic-Tac-Toe at Jingle Belles ... hope you'll come play along with us.

Just choose three squares in a row and incorporate those elements into your holiday card design.

 

 

I went diagonal top left to bottom right - designer paper, silver, and Santa.

 

 

I used Designer papers including car-driving Santa from PhotoPlay Not a Creature was Stirring.  I used the layout from BYSH Cardmakers, but tipped the layers a bit since Santa is driving fast to get to all of those homes.  I added a tiny stamped Stampin' Up sentiment in a 7/8" circle and matted it with a 1" circle to make it pop a bit more against that polka dot background.

Snoopy Birthday

I colored one of my Snoopy stamped images that I made from Chris Dayton's Snoopy stamp collection for a very special birthday card.  I stuck with primary colors, because the comics always seemed to be filled with primary colors ... and then found a scrap of plaid paper in my stash that was perfect for the colors I had chosen (paper crafting kismet).

 

 

I used this week's Paper Craft Crew Sketch with a vintage (2006) Stampin' Up sentiment.

 

Shred the Cake Inspired

This weekend when I was hunting for one of several things I managed to misplace, I found sheets of vintage car illustrations that Lauren had gifted to me.  She has made so many fabulous paper-crafting projects featuring the cars (including this ICAD from 2019), but I have mostly hoarded mine, so I decided I would use one of the cars for the Wheels Challenge at Seize the Birthday.

 

 

Then when I saw the cool Shred the Cake image at the Inspired by Challenge I chose that for my inspiration, including a flipped variation on the Sketch.

 

 

I chose a black 1964 Apollo car inspired by the black & white photo on the wall.  I brought in some of the gold and teal from the second skateboard on the wall for my colors.

 

 

I added two different Washi Tapes ... some flames to bring in the speed and shred theme and some Eyelet Outlet Road Washi Tape for my speedy car (the text with the illustration indicates it could go 130 mph).

Next, I added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Sentiment Strips and retired Stampin' Up punched balloons to bring in more of the color and the birthday theme, as well as the skateboarder "taking air".   I used Love from Lizi Peel-offs for the balloon strings.
