SuperSTAR RBG

The newest challenge at Shopping Our Stash is SuperSTAR - create a card featuring Stars.

 

 

I literally went shopping in my studio.  I immediately thought of this Cuttlebug Star Embossing Folder, but then I had to find it LOL.  While I was "Shopping* I found a never been used pad of Core'dinations Cardstock, and reminisced about how designing cards for Core'dinations at my local Scrapbooking store was my first "design gig" and how they "paid" me with lots of wonderful Core'dinations papers to use.  

What I do is emboss, use a foam sanding block to reveal the color, then wipe with a baby wipe to pick up all of the dust and use my heat tool to dry the paper.

 

 

Then I added my favorite SuperSTAR, the awesome Ruth Bader Ginsburg from Ink Road Stamps (with her gold crown stamped with my new Lisa Horton Cloud Solid Gold Ink) inside a Memory Box Stitched Star Die Cut.  The sentiment is from the same set.  I finished by giving dear RBG some coordinating red earrings.

Pooh Baby Shower

The newest challenge at Shopping Our Stash is Shower Me with Sunshine - shop your stash and make a Baby Shower or Wedding Shower Card.

 

 

I decided to use the Hero Arts Nesting Onesie that I used as a mask back in #gelprintJanuary2024 as the focal point for my Baby Shower Card.

 

 

I decorated my Onesie with Winnie the Pooh from Honey Bear Vol 2 from Ink Road Stamps that I stamped on golden Pooh cardstock and then a second time on red cardstock to paper piece his shirt.

 

 

I attached the onesie with foam tape to a Pooh golden cardstock card base and finished with a sentiment from Taylored Expressions Mini Strips - Baby.

A Christmas Story

At Jingle Belles this week's theme is A Christmas Story where we're asking you to create a card inspired by the many holiday books or movies that we all adored in childhood (and likely still adore them today). 

So whether you love “A Christmas Carol”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” or “It's a Wonderful Life”, we're asking you to create a card inspired by your favorite holiday book or movie.

I chose "A Christmas Story" as my inspiration for this week's card using stamps from The Ink Road Leg Lamp.  I sprayed my papers with Fortune Teller & Cocktail Party Distress Mica Stain Sprays with the Pinkfresh Studio Rounded Braided Rectangle Die Cut for the images.

 

 

I chose my colors for the Color Hues Red/Purple Challenge which included a hop to honor Lindsay.

 

 

I'm also linking-up at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers V is for Vivid Challenge.

 

 

And the Mica Spray is a metallic, so I'm linking up at the Christmas Craft Creations Metallics Challenge.

Probably 25 to Life

I was intrigued by the colors at the Color Throwdown this week, since they aren't colors I would have thought to combine, but I love it.

 

 

Since I had some orange gelli prints (with gold highlights) from this morning's cardmaking, I decided to create another print in red and maroon. 

 

 

Next I used a stitched circle to die cut all three and then cut the circles into sixths and adhered them to a gold stitched rectangle for this week's TGIF Challenge Sketch.

 

 

I added a fun 3-D iced coffee mug sticker and a sentiment from Ink Road Mug Life.

E is for Expletives

As you can tell from the blog post title, if expletives offend you - click away.  I'm joining the E is for Expletives Challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

 

 

 

For those who know me, it's no surprise that I had multiple stamp sets to choose from for this challenge (I'm a bit of an expletive collector).  I went with Ink Road Stamps Bitch Please sentiments on an ink sprayed background.  I think I may have to keep this one on my desk top.

 

I kept it simple with a few Love from Lizi peel off stickers down the left side.

A Christmas Story

We're still celebrating cards inspired by Christmas Movies or Books at Jingle Belles this week.

 

 

I went with the classic - A Christmas Story (am I the only one who says Fra-gee-lee) every time I get something marked Fragile in the mail.

 

 

Stamps are from Leg Lamp by The Ink Road.

 

 

Also joining the Heart 2 Heart Challenge where the theme is Christmas in July.

A Christmas Story

I started with a holiday movie classic - Christmas Vacation - and a classic line from Chevy Chase (the less appropriate following line is on the inside of the card).

 

The stamp from The Ink Road Are You Serious Clark? is in Catherine Pooler Deck the Halls ink on a kraft card base and added a glittery Peel-off from Love from Lizi.

 

 

I'm also joining the Christmas in July Challenge at Less is More.

 

 

And its all about occasions at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

 

And it's another Get Cracking on Christmas with Jenn Shurkus.

Serendipity RBG

This week's Wanderlust Art Journal theme starts a month of Serendipity.  It was more of a free form lesson using sprays, paints, paper and pencil together with a large face image.

I started with three colors of Dina Speed Wakley's Gloss Sprays - Lime, Turquoise & Sand.

 

 

Next I added my focal image together with strips from an Amtrak Train Schedule.  I finished with some Blue Pencil Marks.

 

 

Next I pained with new to me Dina Wakley Acrylic Paints that arrived this week.  Then while it was wet, I added some Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder, which produced a wonderful shimmer.

 

 

I sprayed some more spray on top to bring back in the lime.

 

 

I finished with stamped sentiments from Ink Road Stamps RBG and a bit more Dermatograph Pencil.

 

String Theory Sass

When I saw this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! I was immediately reminded of a String Art Tutorial from Understand Blue, so I went and found it.

 

 

I couldn't find a phone book or rubber globes, so I used an Encyclopedia and just got inky fingers.  I used Taylored Expressions Cookie Monster Ink and made these four String Theory pulls (first pull on the bottom and second pull on the top).

 

 

I used one of the first pulls because I thought it more closely resembled the sketch, and then because I was feeling a bit punchy tonight, I used stamps from The Ink Road Empower (thank you Tina Fey).

 

More Washi Wonderland

I told you I would come back and re-visit the current Sketch at CAS(E)this Sketch for a few more cards (you can see my first group of cards here).

 

 

I thought this floral tape reminded me of RBG's Collar, so I used my new Ink Road Stamps RBG Stamps.

 

 

I stamped the collar and crown on the gel press printed corner.

 

Next I used some Coffee Cup Washi with a sentiment from STAMPlorations Literary Caffeine-ations and another Gel Press print.

 

 

And my final card today is all about Sunshine & Rainbows.

 

I combined rainbow washi tape with striped Doodlebug Baby Girl Stripes Washi with sentiment & sun from Concord & 9th Brighter Days.

I love how easy and fun these cards have been to make.
