Birthday Grid

This week's CAS(E) this Sketch was perfect for a quick & easy masculine birthday card.

I flipped the sketch to work with a Project Life Birthday card and stamped six different Inkadinkado Birthday Inchies ... the grid on the card made it very easy to line them up.

A cardstock frame & white card base (resisting the urge to add sequins since I wanted to keep it CAS & masculine) and it was done.

I'm also joining *Anything Goes* at Seize the Birthday.

And on a completely unrelated side note ... I found some summer sandals that I love today ... super comfy, adjustable straps and such fun colors that will go with so many things ... Romika Fidschi 22.

 

Inchie Fun x 2

When I saw the layout at Sketch Frenzy Friday, I knew it would be perfect to play with some of my neglected inchie stamps.

I pulled out my Dog's Life Inchies from Inkadinkado and decided to create with a monochromatic brown palette for this week's CASology Challenge.

The card came together quickly using scraps from my stash.

When I got ready to post my card, I realized there was a problem ... Sketch Frenzy Friday is a Stampin' Up only challenge blog.  Since my Stampin' Up stamps have also been neglected, I decided to see if I could create a second card using their images.

The images from Hello Sailor were small enough to work in an inchie-like design (my squares are actually 1 3/8" in this card).  This time I went with monochromatic blue in keeping with a nautical theme.

I should really challenge myself to do this more often to build my stash quicker ... it was fun using the same theme and design with different images.

Always Wear Protection

I'm a Geek (with a capital *G*) ... always have been ... always will be.  

So needless to say, I collect geeky stamps and embellishments ... which are perfect for the September Gallery Challenge at Paper Crafts & Scrabooking ... Talk Nerdy to Me.

I started with my new stitched Film Strip Die from Pretty Pink Posh (because geeks like symmetry, neat lines & reptition).  I filled the film strip with inchies from Inkadinkado Nerds and Geeks adding some tiny black buttons to the red plaid shirt.

Next I stamped Hero Arts Ledger in Library Green Archival Ink (I actually used to make manual ledger entries in a former life) and added several Plano Circular Grids from Hero Arts.

The final touch was a page from a vintage Practical Electricity book to mat my film strip (because yes, I even collect geeky books filled with text and formulas).

ColourQ Birthday

I've been working to restock my birthday card stash, especially with masculine designs.  This card combines colors from this week's ColourQ Challenge.

I also wanted to make another Clean & Simple Design for the Impression Obsession Challenge, so these Bithday Wishes Squares were perfect (I punched them out using a 1 3/8" square punch to leave a small white border).

I tried adding some brads or other embellishments, but in the end I decided to stick with the clean square design.

Also excited to see I was in the Top 3 at The Cutting Edge Challenge.

Masculine Birthday Inchies

Tonight I needed to restock my masculine birthday stash ... and when I saw the new sketch at Stamplorations, I knew exactly what I was going to do ... pull out the inchies.

I liked it so much, I quickly put together two cards using the same stamps ... and same scrap of designer paper for the middle of my card.

I love how the red pops against the gray.  For my second card I used a two-color palette ... I love how a slight change can produce a completely different look.

I'm also joining the Order of the Opus Glueii where they are celebrating Inchies.

Merry Inchie Christmas

We're still having a Merry LITTLE Christmas at Jingle Belles by making cards featuring inchies.  I found a treasure trove of vintage ledger pages at a local flea market, so that is where I started my design using a sketch from Crazy for CAS.

I stamped three different Inkadinkado Christmas inchies using Rhubarb Stalk Memento Ink.  I added the edge of the ledger paper and rick-rack cut paper.  I finished with some tiny bling on the star and a few red sequins.

Inchie Snowflakes

We're having a Merry LITTLE Christmas at Jingle Belles ... by creating cards featuring Inchies or twinchies.

As I thought about different color combinations for my design, I saw the great colors from Sunday Stamps (which were actually the colors of my bedroom as a teenager) ... I thought they would be a perfect non-traditional holiday color palette.

I picked-up this little Hero Arts Snowflake Set (LP209) which was perfect for an inchie card.  Snowflakes and Sentiment were stamped using Gina K Designs' Blue Denim Ink and then cut them into 1 1/4" squares to allow a bit more white around the edges of my snowflakes.  I added tiny silver balls to the centers.

The Navy background seemed a little *flat*, so I embossed with Tim Holtz Bubble Texture Fade.  I finished with a glittery silver flag.

Rockin' Birthday

I love textured black cardstock, so I wanted to join the Black Challenge at CASology (click on over for lots of great design ideas for using black).

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch together with some Inkadinkao Inchies and my favorite India Ink.

I decided to go with a Birthday theme for the Monochromatic Birthday Challenge at Sentimental Sundays ... since black & white are neutrals, my color is a pop of teal with my glitter star and epoxy brad.

Puppy Love

This is my final post as a Design Team Member at Unscripted Sketches ... I've truly enjoyed designing with such a talented group.  

When I saw this week's Sketch, it reminded me of Inchies, so that's what I used.

I wanted to make a *thinking of you* card for a friend who loves his four legged friends.

I stamped the four different Inkadinkado doggie inchies on the same whtie designer paper I used for the background of my card, and then used a sparkle pen to add a littel glitter to each one.  A few layers and a sticker sentiment, and this card is off in the mail.

Beautiful Hope

Tonight I'm playing with some Inkadinkado Inchies for the Third Thursday Sketch at Crafty Secrets using soft hues from the CR84FN Color Challenge.

Crafty Secrets was also asking for pink for October Cancer Awareness.
