Flashback Friday 14.0 ~ Gift Card Holder

The current Flashback Friday theme is to re-post your first ever gift card holder.  My searching took me back to September 2007 for this gaudy little number.

I made it for a Caardvarks Sticker Challenge, and apparently I went all-out with the vibrant holiday hues ... wow ... all I can say in restrospect is ... wow ... sort of the same "wow" I say when I see pictures of my younger self with my failed Dorothy Hammil haircut.  However ... it's always fun to see how far I've come.

Flashback Friday 13.0 ~ Shapes

This week's Flashback Friday Challenge is to post the first Non-Traditional Shaped Card you ever blogged.   Some of the very first shaped cards I ever made, were girly purse cards.  

This one was pre-blog from my SCS Gallery on November 23, 2006 (when I was using my recliner as a photo studio).

This was another from November 2006 (I made a gift set).

And this is the first one I ever blogged in September 2007 for the Caardvarks Micro Bead Challenge.  I confess I did so a little photo editing on this one since in my old photo you could barely make-out the beads (oh how far I've come).

Seeing these makes me want to go make some again ... such fun girly cards.

Flashback Friday 12.0 ~ Spring Colors

The Flashback Friday challenge is to post the first card you blogged using Spring Colors (and there's awesome twine up for grabs for one lucky soul).  I went all the way back to August 12, 2007 for this Split Negative Shower Card.  

I think this design holds-up almost 4 years later ... I still love the happy spring pinks with the black accents and that awesome background paper.  

It's always so fun looking through those designs from my blogging beginnings.  Thanks Amy & Kathleen for the trip down memory lane.

Flashback Friday 11.0 ~ Weddings

The Flashback Friday 11.0 Challenge is to re-post the very first wedding card you ever blogged.  Mine was a wedding congratuations card for co-workers to sign back in October 2007.  I even used decorative scissors to create that large scallop circle.

Since it didn't have to go through the mail, I piled on the bulky buttons for a Mojo Monday Sketch.  At that time, my husband thought it was a "bit much" ... and looking back, I think I would have to agree... but I do remember the recipient loved it.

Flashback Friday 10.0 ~ Stitching

For this month's Flashback Friday 10.0, the fabulous Emily is asking us to re-post the very first card on our blog where we used stitching.  

I had to go all the way back to October 2007 for this fun & funky flower design.

To make the paper flowers, I punched out a variety of circles from DP scraps.  I wadded up each piece, and after I straightened it back out, I dabbed on paint with my Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber in Red Pepper and Pool. 

I layered the circles and then used my sewing machine to stitch them together.  Next, I hand stitched the buttons to the top of the flowers. I finished the flowers with some velvet rick rack stems and a bow.  The sentiment is a 7Gypsies sticker ~~ to thine own self be true.

Flashback Friday 9.0 ~ Windows

This month's Flashback Friday 9.0 Challenge is to upload the first card you ever posted that had a window in the front of the card.  I don't know about you, but it always makes me smile when I go for a walk down memory lane and see how far my cardmaking has come.

My first window card was made for the very first Featured Stamper Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers on February 11, 2007.  It was inspired by this window card design by Kurtis.  

I believe I attached a scalloped oval to the card front, and then punched through the card front with the next smallest scalloped oval punch.  I am also guessing that I then stamped through the oval to make sure my sentiment was relatively positioned inside the opening.

Don't you love the bathroom towel I was using to take my pictures back then ... and obviously only one light as evidenced by the shadow on the right side (I resisted the urge to edit the photo).  However, I do still love the great color combination in that that fun striped ribbon.

Flashback Friday Glitter

The Flashback Friday 7.0 challenge is to re-post the first card you ever made using glitter.   

This card was for a Mojo Monday Challenge waaaaay back on September 11, 2007 and featured glittery papers from DCWV.

Flashback Friday 6.0

Amy's Flashback Friday 6.0 Challenge is to post the first card you blogged about that was made with an unusual find in your home.

As I searched back through the archives, the first one I found was from September 2007, using pop-tabs to frame my rivet sentiment.  This card was for the Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS, so I borrowed the pop-tab idea from this card made by Michelle Zindorf.  

I can honestly say I like the effect enough that I would use it again today ... I haven't been able to say that about all of my Flashback Friday cards :^).
