I'm thrilled to be Guest Designing at the Ink Pad Blog today sharing my love for Karin Brushmarkers and Everyday Explorers Co. Stamps.
One thing I love about the Karin BrushMarkers is that you can blend them with water. I like the relaxing experience of creating lots of blended backgrounds to have on hand for stamping. I also like that you can combine the regular Karin BurshMarker Pros with the Metallic Markers or Neon Markers for different effects (and all blend with water).
I find it best to use watercolor paper and to spritz the paper lightly with water before you color. I also use a piece of paper slightly larger than I intend for my finish projects, so I can trim the edges. I just move the markers back and forth across the paper and then come back in with a paintbrush and more water to blend. If you want a lighter more blendy look, you can use a paper towel to pick some of the ink up.
For this one I blended one shade of regular marker with a similar shade from the metallic markers. You can see a got a bit more metallic toward the bottom (the metallic is more opaque).
After the panels dry, I put them in my MISTI for stamping with Ranger Archival Ink, because you need to stamp several times to get a nice crisp image on top of the marker colored backgrounds. I thought the greens were perfect for stamps from the Everyday Explorers Co. Slurp Stamp Set.
I positioned and stamped three if the images and then trimmed down my panel. I used lovely paper from Craft Consortium Winter Woodland Collection (love that these paper collections are two-sided). I inked around the edges with a bit of Distress Ink and added a stirp of cardstock before attaching my stamped panel with foam tape for slight dimension (but still mailable without extra postage).
I love Boba and Ramen ... and I love that I have a place to get Boba Tea just a block from my home ... my current favorite flavor is Taro ... isn't that purple pretty.
For the next background I wanted to make a Coffee Themed Card using the Everyday Explorers Co. Coffee Snob Stamps, so I combined quite a few plain and metallic markers in shades of brown.
I love this one a little less blended on purpose. There are so many effects you can achieve with these markers.
I went back in with one of the metallic markers after stamping and filled the Chemex with Coffee (I love that this set has both the Chemex and pour-over water kettle that look just like what we have at our home).
I used another paper from the Craft Consortium Winter Woodland Collection for my background with Distress Inks around the edges.
For my final card and background today, I had fun with both Pro BrushMarkers and Metallic Markers in shades of blue.
I thought this color was perfect for the Get It Girl Stamp Set from Everyday Explorers Co.
The background is one of my Gel Press Prints. These sentiments are perfect to send some girlfriend encouragement through the mail.
I hope I've got your brain thinking about all the ways you can use these fun stamp sets and markers ... so many possibilities.
