Snowflake Hope

For the new year, I did a purge and re-sorting of my gel printed, inked & painted backgrounds, so that hopefully they'll be more accessible, and I'll use more of them in 2023. 

I started with this wonderful painted and salted background on kraft paper of watercolor paint over gesso that I made some extras for an art journaling class.

 

 

Next I die cut two more Gel Printed background for layers 1 & 2 of the Birch Press Mini Snowflake Frame Layer Set (topping it with white cardstock for layer 3).  I added a pearl in the middle and finished with a Hope sentiment from Birch Press Rainbow Days Lingo Notes.

Since I did a good job of Using my Stuff, I'm linking at up the Real or Faux Stitching Challenge at Use Your Stuff Challenge.

Heart-Felt

The February Poppy Stamps Challenge is to use Hearts or Felt (or in my case, both).

 

 

The main layered die is the Adora Layering Dies from sister company Birch Press cut in three shades of purple.  The center heart is from Poppy Stamps Heart Confetti Collage.

 

 

I used a sentiment from sister company Memory Box Big and Little Valentines.  I die cut a felt circle on which to place the design.

I finished with a strip of watercolor paper painted with Dylusions Shimmer Paints.

Ornamental Holiday

This week at Jingle Belles is Ornamental, My Dear Watson ... creating a card that features Ornaments.

I used Alcohol Inks on Silver Sparkle Alcohol Ink Paper and then die cut layers A & C of the Birch Press Radiant Ornament Dies from the glittery paper. 

 

 

I traced the ornament shape onto a scrap of gold glitter paper to create the background & also die cut the ornament top.  For the Sketch Saturday 5th Saturday Choose Any Sketch, I picked Sketch 344 for my Layout.

Imagine all the people ...

I did some Black Friday Shopping at Dies R Us and picked-up a few new dies from Birch Press including this Mini Snowflake Frame Layer Set. 

I die cut the top and bottom layers from white cardstock and the middle layer from my favorite silver mirror chipboard (the inside of a Puffs with Vicks and Lotion Tissue Box).  I added a piece of Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Bling to the center.

 

 

I attached the snowflake to a BoBunny Winter Wonderland paper covered card base.  

The inspiration for all of that snow comes from this week's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge (where I am thrilled to be one of last week's winners).

 

 

I paired my snowflake with a vintage wood mount stamp from 2005 by Peddler's Pack and a scattering of silver sequins.

Autumnal Amber Blend

It's Sunday, so that means some Ink Blending Practice ... I decided to have my blend take its inspiration from the current Rainbow Card Color Challenge ... Autumnal Amber.

 

 

I chose four colors of Amber-toned Distress Oxide Ink ... but unfortunately all ink pads were pretty dry (and I couldn't find the re-inkers - that will be my next studio treasure hunt), so I didn't love the end result.

 

 

One way to save a not-so-great-blend is a cover plate die ... I used Birch Press Design Delfina Layer C, which I thought left plenty of the blend to show through ... much better result in my opinion.

 

I reached into my vintage paper flower bag and layered some amber blooms with a big bold brad center.

I finished with a sentiment from Birch Press Design You are Awesome.

Christmas Cardstock

We're still Creating with Cardstock at Jingle Belles.  This week I decided to try out my new Birch Press Ornament Basics Craft Die.

 

 

I die cut it from two of my Karin Marker colored backgrounds and silver metallic cardstock for the holiday.  I finished with a fabulous Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Bling.

 

I used Eyelet Outlet Silver Glitter Tape to create the Border for my Sentiment from Memory Box Dashing with Reindeer.  The background is colored cardstock that I brayered with Acrylic Paints during Art Camp 2019 ... love the modern feel of it.
