I was thrilled to get to take a paper making class from Clar Baldus at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. Since the class was on Grant Wood's birthday, we made papers featuring denim and other plants that he featured in his art works.
There were stations set-up around the classroom, with each one featuring a different plant (or fabric) source. After you filled your frame with pulp, you could add different embellishments to the paper before pressing out the water. This one has hydrangea and marigold petals pressed into denim paper.
I love how colors from the petals leached out into some of the dried papers. And the one with lavender smells so good. The top right one has some of the denim fibers that had not yet been through the blender pressed into the paper pulp.
I can't wait to use these in some card making.
