I cannot even express how good it felt to be traveling again to spend time with Lauren. One flight was over booked, but with the offer of a $400 gift card, that was quickly resolved, thankfully.
I started my day with an Apple Pie Chai Latte … and I always get the whipped cream.
Unfortunately, our travels were a bit mired by train track construction, but we finally made it to NYC in time to grab some supper.
We usually travel to Chinatown for Dim Sum, but this time we decided to try a location closer to ur hotel, was an “order from a menu” Dim Sum Restaurant vs. the carts of food you experience in Chinatown. The dumplings were delicious (Lauren coming in for the action shot).
We made a quick stop into Kinokuniya before they closed, where Lauren found her annual Hello Kitty planner. I resisted taking home this Yoko Ono children’s book.
I loved getting to see the Iconic Lions in front of the Library.
It was so hard to pick favorites from the Library Exhibit. It was hard to believe so many treasures are in the Library’s archives.
We were both inspired by this amazing two sided “Diary, Volume 5, 1973” by Dancer Jerome Robbins (so many ideas we wanted to take home & try in our own art work).
We’re big fans of Benjamin Franklin at our house, so it was awesome to see this classic portrait.
I also loved seeing the original toys that inspired Winnie the Pooh,
And how cool was it to see an Andy Warhol original painted for Truman Capote.
We also discovered that there was a Milk Bar just a few blocks from our hotel, which was super-dangerous (and super-delicious).
What a perfect way to end our first day in the City.
