The next stop on our Road Trip was the historic section of St. Charles, Missouri. We stayed in the Thomas Jefferson Suite at the Boone's Colonial Inn. The weather was perfect for enjoying the small table on the 2nd floor porch with a view of the River.
We started our stay with supper at Salt & Smoke recommended by our Inn Keeper. Not our favorite BBQ, but service was quick & we were starving.
The next day we had breakfast at Frontier Perk Cafe. When I ordered the Carrot Cake, the Barista gave me a big YES and declared it the best breakfast order. It was quite wonderful.
Then came lots of shopping. I found lots of gifts (for others and for me) and really enjoyed wandering up and down the street.
The locally printed products at Happy Camper Clothing & the hand-painted dishes at Siostra Polish Pottery & Gifts.
Rod decided he'd had more than enough shopping and camped out here (I bought that Orla Kieley Car Bag years ago on our first trip to Washington DC, and it has served us well on many future trips).
We enjoyed a meat and cheese tray that we added to our room for supper and then wandered around the corner to Kilwin's for some Ice Cream treats (that Cake Batter in a Waffle Bowl was da' bomb).
Overall, a wonderful visit to St. Charles
