I had every intention of spending yesterday creating ... but as often happens when you return from vacation, other things fill-up the space. I ended-up cleaning out the closet in one of my studio rooms and filling 4 bags to go to Goodwill today.
So in order to ease back into creating, I did a few Gel Press Prints for the GelliArts #marchprintingchallenge.
I started with Green for March 17th ... I do love printing in greens. I used some bubble wrap I found in the great closet clean-out ... grunge-dotty-green-perfection to me.
Next up was March 18th for Dots. I used two sizes of discovered bubble wrap for this one and more greens. That florescent green paint really pops.
And today's prompt was Crayons. It just so happened that I found a neglected box of Crayons in my closet clean-out as well, so I used the purple one to create a Crayon Scribble Resist Print.
I started by scribbling zig zags on some copy paper (you need to push pretty hard to leave plenty of wax on the paper).
Next you cover the plate in paint and pull a print Crayon side down with your scribbled paper. As you can see, it leaves the wax residue from the crayons on the plate.
Next, use a contrasting paint to pull the final resist print.
So many possibilities with this technique if you like to doodle.
