Red & Green All Over

This week at Jingle Belles we're creating with the traditional holiday color palette of Red and Green.

I started by going through my stack of Gel Press Prints and pulled out all that were red or green.  Then I picked two that I thought worked well together.

 

I paired it with a fun Santa image that was included in my recent Christmas in July purchase from STAMPlorations.  I paired him with one of their Sticker Sentiments to join their Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge.

Fears and Dreams

When I saw the Wild With Washi Challenge at Simon Says Stamp, I knew I had to join the fun.  As I peered into my big Washi drawer, the yet-to-be-used Star Wars Washi Tape is what caught my eye, so I assembled my card with those colors in mind.  I love randomly combining patterns and colors to create a cohesive design.

 

 

The placement of my  washi tape was inspired by the Sketch at the Global Design Project, but when I was done, I realized I needed to rotate the sketch to work with the patterns on the tapes.

 

 

I went hunting for a vertically positioned sentiment that went with my design and landed on this vintage wood-mounted sentiment by Tim Holtz from Stampers Anonymous.

 

Oh, Baby!

Oh, Baby! is the theme of the July Stock Your Stash Challenge at Reverse Confetti.

 

 

I finally added the Plaid Lines Small Confetti Cuts to my stash, so I paired it with the Plaid Lines Big Confetti Cuts in gender-neutral lavender and golden yellow.  I attached it to a kraft card base.

 

 

To get the Tag size I needed, I die cut the large tag from Celebrate Tag Confetti Cuts and then cut it a second time to shorten the size.  I went with my go-to Onesie from Reverse Confetti Cute as a Button and paired it with a sentiment from Reverse Confetti Fancy Word Coordinates stamped in kraft.

And what do you do with all of those little bits that pop out of the Plaid Dies?? Make another quick card of course.  I put them together like building with Legos.

 

The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti Best Sentiments.

Treat Yourself

The current Lawn Fawn Challenge is all about Fun with Food ... and what better summer food than ice cream.

 

I started by ink-blending my base panel with Prize Ribbon, Dusty Concord and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Inks.  Then I gave it a few spritzes of shimmer spray for overall glimmer.

 

 

I blended more Distress Oxide inks onto a scrap of white cardstock, so I could  stamp the Ice Cream Container, Ice Cream Lid and Spoon from Lawn Fawn's Treat Yourself.  I die cute white cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Cross-Stitched Circle Stackables and positioned them inside.

I'm also linking-up at the Little Red Wagon Stay Cool Challenge.  The Simon Says Stamp Challenge is also about Food & Drink (don't you love that you can both eat & drink ice cream).

The Best is Yet to Come

I opened my new Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide ink and made an attempt at some ink blending using Speckled Egg and Shaded Lilac (clearly I need to watch more tutorials because I never get the smooth blend my friends do). 

I decided to add the MB Makes Marks Marker Stencil over the top and spray with the Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide Spray.  I put another piece of paper on stop of the stencil to pick up the extra spray before pulling up the stencil to reveal the magic underneath. 

 

 

I decided to add some dragonflies from Cheryl's Flutterflies at the {a vintage girl} & her daughter together with some of their Typewriter Phrases sentiment stickers using this week's Freshly Made Sketch layout.  Remember discount code GNOMIES gets you 20% off your order in their shop.

I'm Totally Awesome

Since my Sarcasti-chick card won me the Queen of Snark, I have the honor of guest designing with the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers this week.  The theme is C is for Colourful (or Colorful).

 

 

I decided to make a card featuring one of my favorite colorful mediums, alcohol ink, this time turned into a Gel Press Print, which gives such a wonderful overlap of colors.

 

 

I stuck with just a sentiment, so as much of that colorful print was viewable.  This perfectly snarky sentiment is from My Favorite Things Sassy Pants Best Friends.

A Christmas Story

We're still celebrating cards inspired by Christmas Movies or Books at Jingle Belles this week.

 

 

I went with the classic - A Christmas Story (am I the only one who says Fra-gee-lee) every time I get something marked Fragile in the mail.

Hello ... Quit Bugging Me!

I will confess, I went a little Challenge Happy with this card.  I have been mulling over ideas for the July Repeat Yourself Challenge at A Blog Named Hero ... I finally decided to use repeating stripes of Washi Tape. 

Then when I saw the Shopping Our Stash Challenge is Quit Bugging Me!, I broke out my Hero Arts Bug You set for my focal image.

 

Next I saw the colors at the CAS Color Challenge (although I now realize my card isn't CAS, so I won't be linking-up there ... sometimes the details get lost in my creative process), I thought they were perfect buggy colors.

 

 

Then I saw the Tic-Tac-Toe at the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog and realized I had some wooden tags on my studio table that would work perfectly for the Sketch at Sketch ~N~ Scrap Blog & that challenge, so I pulled out one of my oldest Hero Arts Essential Messages that are at least as old as February 2012 when I made this card.  I did vertical across the middle with Clear Embossing on my Praying Mantis, lots of Greens, and my Wood Tag.
