Sock Monkey Birthday

This afternoon I had some Sock Monkey Sticker fun with images from {a vintage girl} & her daughter (discount code GNOMIES2021 gets you 20% off your order - mention my name in the comments).

 

 

With those party hats, they seemed perfect for a birthday card.  I realize it's a big of a stash, but I believe a sock monkey qualifies as a non-human companion, so I'm linking-up at Shopping Our Stash.

 

 

I started with some Honey Bee brown designer paper that reminded me of the stitched sock-monkey texture.  Next, I used the layout from the TGIF Challenges and added lots of cute little Sock Monkeys to the squares (the middle one is one of my Gel Press Prints with Metallic Paints).

 

 

I added some of the flowers from the sticker set (with enamel dot centers) and the uber-cute Sock Monkey Balloons before finishing with a birthday sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Thoughtful Flowers.

 

Holly Jolly Christmas

We're still getting all bundled-up at Jingle Belles - making cards with lots of layers.

This week I went with Tim Holtz Products for my bundled-up design.

My paper layers are from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Mini Christmas Paper Stash Pad.  The strips were cut from one of the plaid designs and there's an extra layer of black cardstock to frame the sentiment from Stampers Anonymous Bold Things Number Three. 

 

 

I used the layout from the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown swapping the smaller square for some vintage candy cane ephemera.

Shred the Cake Inspired

This weekend when I was hunting for one of several things I managed to misplace, I found sheets of vintage car illustrations that Lauren had gifted to me.  She has made so many fabulous paper-crafting projects featuring the cars (including this ICAD from 2019), but I have mostly hoarded mine, so I decided I would use one of the cars for the Wheels Challenge at Seize the Birthday.

 

 

Then when I saw the cool Shred the Cake image at the Inspired by Challenge I chose that for my inspiration, including a flipped variation on the Sketch.

 

 

I chose a black 1964 Apollo car inspired by the black & white photo on the wall.  I brought in some of the gold and teal from the second skateboard on the wall for my colors.

 

 

I added two different Washi Tapes ... some flames to bring in the speed and shred theme and some Eyelet Outlet Road Washi Tape for my speedy car (the text with the illustration indicates it could go 130 mph).

Next, I added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Sentiment Strips and retired Stampin' Up punched balloons to bring in more of the color and the birthday theme, as well as the skateboarder "taking air".   I used Love from Lizi Peel-offs for the balloon strings.

I'm also joining the Simon Says Stamp Masculine Challenge.

 

Women Belong ... RBG

When I first saw the Hero Arts Lifestyle Dies, they really didn't interest me ... and then they had to go and release RBG Dies, and you know I had to have them.

 

I decided her Black & White profile was perfect for the Monochromatic Challenge at A Blog Named Hero (with Gold Glitter as my non-neutral tone).

 

I tried using several different of the coordinating face stamps, but couldn't get anything that looked right to me, so I stuck with the die cut glasses ... I just love how she turned out.

The sentiment is also Hero Arts Wood-mounted Women Belong.

The layout is this week's Paper Craft Crew Layout.  I also added gold glitter burst dies from the Hero Arts Lifestyle BBQ Dies.

 

Drawing Arnold Ziffel

This morning I went to an art class this morning at DKW Gallery to learn how to use Art Pastels to draw a pig.  This was our inspiration.

 

 

We thankfully had stencil to trace for the main shape.  Then we starting laying down a base.

 

 

We kept adding more layers for shadows and outlines.

 

 

Next step was using our fingers to blend.

 

 

Then we came back in with more shading on our pig and then chose the color for our background (I chose a grey/green blend).

 

 

And the final step was coming in with a black Pastel Pencil to add details.

 

 

He doesn't quite look like the pig in the picture ... but for my first try, I was thrilled that I could actually tell he is a pig.

It was fun to visit the gallery & take an art class again.

All Bundled up for Christmas

This week's Jingle Belles Prompt is All Bundled Up where we're asking you to use lots of layers on your card design.

I grabbed the remaining papers in my stash from the long-discontinued BasicGrey Evergreen Collection and layered six of the paper designs to create my card, including the sentiment cut from one of the pages.

 

 

I added another layer of bling and a tiny sticker sentiment to complete the card.

Winnie the Pooh

I have always been a fan of Winnie the Pooh and friends, so when I was at a local bookstore and saw a book of card ideas that included a Winnie the Pooh stamp set, ephemera and coordinating papers, I had to bring it home.

Today I used three different sketch challenges to put together three card designs.

 

The first one uses this week's Sunday Stamps layout with my two shapes comprised of a tag and a large cloud cut from some bumble bee paper.

 

 

The next one uses another ephemera oval together with a layout from Paper Craft Crew Challenges.

 

 

I flipped the horizontal sketch to work with my oval and added some enamel dots.

 

 

I'm also joining the Just Us Girls Challenge, which is Spots or Dots.

 

 

The final card uses the layout from The Global Design Project.

 

 

I just love that fist-full of honey.
