Today's Spring Card Camp Class was about layering Cover Plate Die Cuts with Dimension. When I watched the video, I initially thought I would take a pass ... just too futzy for me. May assured watchers that it wasn't futzy ... so I tried. But indeed it was super-futzy. Glad I tried ... highly unlikely I'll be trying it again.
I started by creating an orange and yellow ombre watercolor paper for my popped-up pieces, so it would have time to dry (turned out that you really didn't get to see much of the gorgeous painted piece, which made me sad).
Next I die-cut the Taylored Expressions Mandala Cutting Plate from Black Cardstock. May did white-on-white, but I thought black-on-white would be more dramatic (I didn't really think through that combining the black and orange would have a bit of a Halloween effect, but I stuck with it).
I also die cut the plate from Foam for added dimension behind the pieces (I only had a felt foam, so that added to the futziness of getting it all to stick together ... note to self ... buy some more plain foam sheets).

After attaching two rounds of pieces to my mandala using tiny pieces of foam tape, I decided I was done and added some gems to fill in some more of the space. I matted it on an orange card base and added a sentiment from Taylored Expressions Motivational Monday Planner Stamp Set.
