Bringing it Back Gnomie Style

The new LawnFawnatics Challenge is Bring It Back ... to revisit the older and neglected supplies in your stash ... when I saw the stack of Washi Tape, I knew right where I was starting.

 

I love making Washi Tape backgrounds ... and today I used GREEN.  My MISTI Cover (or Mousepad) is the perfect place to create ... I start in the middle and work my way up and down.

 

I decided to keep as much washi as I could, so I made a tall skinny card for a Business Envelope.  I thought all of that grassy green would be perfect for some Lawn Fawn Gnomies from Oh Gnome.

 

I colored and die cut my Gnomies and flowers ... and then brought back sequins and even some tiny buttons for my embellishments.  Always love the Gnomies.

Chin Up Buttercup

I had lots of bits and bobs left on my table after making this adorable Paper Quilted Monster Card ... so I had to make another for the Paper Smooches Color Story Challenge.

 

 

I also had a leftover Heart Frame Wise Dies Die cut from this card and an extra Monster Die Cut, so I added them to the mix.

I used another piece of the fabulous Paper Smooches Rainbow Sherbet Paper for my background with some of those leftover squares. 

The perfect sentiment is from Paper Smooches Feel Better Sampler (because who wouldn't feel better if this cute little Monster showed up in their mailbox?)

And since I framed my cute litter Monster, I'm also linking-up at the Simon Says Stamp Frame It Challenge.

Makeover Monday - Hawkeye Baby Card

For today's Makeover Monday I'm doing a Congratulations Card for the Stock Your Stash Challenge at Reverse Confetti.  

 

I went all the way back to October 2016 for this cutie as my inspiration.

 

I decided to keep the layout and change-up the colors to use the hues from the Just Us Girls Color Week Challenge ... they might seem like odd colors for a baby card, but if you live near the University of Iowa, you know those are Hawkeye Colors, so they are just perfect.

 

I combined both metallic gold and the color gold for my design starting with a piece of Black and Metallic gold designer paper from a Christmas Collection with two other golden scraps of paper in my scrap box.

 

The adorable Reverse Confetti Onesie from Cute as a Button in Wendy Vecchi Ranger Archival Buttercup Ink.  I added some enamel hearts and dots for accents and finished with the typewriter congratulations sentiment from Reverse Confetti Fancy Words Coordinates.

The perfect baby card for a future Iowa Hawkeye.

Monster Quilt

When I saw Elmer at the current Library Challenge, I thought it would be fun to make a paper patchwork quilt.

 

I thought it would be fun to do with the colors from the current Paper Smooches Color Story Challenge (especially since Kim draws cute little creatures like Elmer).

 

As I was hunting through designer paper scraps for my quilt, I realized these were the exact colors in the Paper Smooches Rainbow Sherbet Paper Pack that I just purchased, so I cut the patterns into 1 1/2" squares.

Rather than an elephant, I created a lavender Monster with googly eyes (I also die cut him from black to make the outline pop ... love how those dies give you that option) and a Happy Birthday Sentiment from my well-used Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler tucked under his little Monster Arm (thanks for the idea Jill Hawkins).

And Simon Says Stamp is linking-up cards using two ore more Patterned Papers, so this certainly fits the bill.

The Journey is the Destination

Lauren & I are always on the look-out for vintage game cards that we can incorporate into our card designs.  Recently she sent me some from game called Touring which dates as far back as 1906 ... they are perfect for masculine designs.  I paired this one with a Classic Car Brad from Eyelet Outlet.

 

I used the layout from the TGIF Challenges for my design adding a few strips of Eyelet Outlet Antique Car Washi Tape and a Sticker Sentiment.  That olive green was the color of our kitchen growing-up in the 70's.

 

And the theme at Cardz 4 Guyz is to use Brads or Eyelets, so I'm linking-up my Classic Car Brad.

OMG How Old?

The theme at A Blog Named Hero is Birthdays ... and as always, I need more masculine birthday cards for my stash.

And as with so many other manufacturers in my studio, I have quite a few Hero Arts products that are still new in the package, so I used three of them on this card design.  I started by die cutting the Hero Arts Bold Graphic Confetti Die from teal cardstock to attach to my kraft card base.

 

Next I die cut the Hero Arts Hipster Icon Dies from dark brown cardstock ... and then I used the Hero Arts packaging for my background.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Birthday Hugs and Kisses.

 

Studio Leftovers

I've been making myself clean my studio today ... I will feel much better when I can see the table tops and everything is relatively returned to its place.  I took a little break and decided to make a card with some of the bits, bobs and scraps that needed to be put away.

 

The February theme at the CAS Stencil Challenge is foil, so I used my new AlteNew Rounded Rectangle dies and cut the largest rectangle from a scrap of Spring Green Foiled stenciled leaves done with Decofoil Transfer Gel and a Leaf Stencil that was in my stash on my studio table from Foil-a-Palooza 2018.

 

Next I decided to use a small scrap of Alexandra Renke Rose Flower Arrangement paper for my focal image, so I incorporated the Fab Friday Sketch for my layout keeping lots of white space for a CAS design.  I used a clear sticker for my sentiment.

 

Now, time to get back to cleaning.

Merry, Bright & RED

The current prompt at Jingle Belles is to create a card that is predominantly RED.

I started with this week's Sunday Stamps Tag You're It Sketch and a cute little North Pole Tag in my stash.

I added a red designer paper card base, a Doodlebugs Santa Doodlepop in his recliner and a sentiment from Hero Arts Stylized Christmas Trees stamped in Red Ink ... and the grand finale, some sparkly red ribbon.

 

 

And the Krafty Chicks Challenge is all about Christmas.

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

The February Challenge at Jaded Blossom is a Color Challenge (the color combination that embodied most of my junior high wardrobe) - Pink, Black & Grey.

I started with a piece of designer paper in those colors ... and then die cut the smaller Jaded Blossom Rounded Tag Die in Grey & Pink.

 

I had to extend the tag a bit to fit the sentiment from Sugar Coat Everything (I just attached the bottom ruffle hanging off the end).  I added some bling & black ribbon to complete the birthday design.
