Squeeze the Day

I am thrilled to be Guest Hostess at the SplitcoastStampers Inspiration Challenge this weekend ... the site I have chosen are the amazing cakes of Tortik Annuchka.  I chose this lovely Citrus Cake to inspire my design ... I was intrigued by the look of the frosting and wanted to see if I could replicate it with paper.

 

I started with a piece of brown leather-like designer paper and then used a credit card to spread on Stampin' Up Embossing Paste until I got the look I wanted (with some of the brown peeking through) and then I let it dry.

 

Next I stamped Lemons & Limes from Essentials by Ellen Squeeze the Day on lime & lemon cardstock.   I finished with an orange cardstock band inspired by the ribbon around the bottom of the set and a sentiment from the same set.

12 Days of Christmas

This week at Jingle Belles we're celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas ... you can include a number on your card (like 25th) or feature one of the elements from the song the 12 Days of Christmas (break out the Maids a Milking and Turtle Doves).

I found this vintage illustration in a discarded Christmas Ideals book that my sister rescued for me.  I scanned it and resized it for the front of my teal card base.

 

I added a wrap of ribbon and a sticker sentiment and just let those illustrations shine.

Be Your Beautiful Self

The current challenge theme at Impression Obsession is At The Beach.

 

Not a lot of beachy stuff in my Impression Obsession inventory, so I had to get creative.  The Cover-A-Card Gradation background reminded me of bubbles in the ocean water ... and I always wear my sunglasses to the beach, so I took those two elements and combined them with inspiration from the Inspired By Challenge ... Nautical Party.

 

The Cover-a-Card Gradation was stamped in Blue using my MISTI.  The Impression Obsession Sunglasses were die cut from vibrant yellow and then again in black for the lenses.

 

I finished with a sentiment from Impression Obsession Words for Art, one of my favorite sentiment sets.

Snarky Cactus

After seeing Nora's awesome takes on this week's CAS(e) this Sketch!, I challenged myself to create my own cards using things currently on my craft table (because I was taking a break from cleaning-up the tornado that landed).

I had a package of 2 remaining Lawn Fundamentals Walnut Note Cards, so that's where I began.  I paired it with some lime green packaging from the back of some Making Memories Mini Shimmer Alphabet Stickers and a scrap of dark green cardstock punched with a border punch.

 

I finished with some Tim Holtz Snarky Impertinent Stickers and some 3-D Cactus stickers.  Quick, fun and easy peasy.

The first one was so fun, I made a second.

 

Snort ... I amuse myself.  Have a great week.

Golden Star

We're still creating with tags at Jingle Belles ... and my card was so easy, it almost felt like cheating (and to be honest, I needed a little easy this week).

 

I used a silver/gold card base from a set of metallic cards ... and added a 3-D glitter star tag ... and a sticker sentiment.  So easy, I quickly made several.  You know you have people on your Christmas card list who would never appreciate a card that takes two hours to make ... these cards are for them.

Alexandra Renke Birthdays

I needed a couple of special birthday cards, so I cut into some more of my gorgeous Alexandra Renke papers (because all card makers know they save the best for those they know will appreciate them) ... these papers are just so luscious ... in the US, you can find Alexandra's products at Ellen Hutson.   I combined 4 different papers together with a scrap of one of my Gel Press Prints.

 

The layout is inspired by the Sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

 

The flowers & butterfly are Alexandra Renke Dies ... I cut the Butterfly with Antennae once out of my the pink designer paper for the outer frame & a second time from my Gel Press print for the inside.  I finished with some graduated pearls for the body.  The floral tag was left over from my class at Junkiefest cut from the Butterfly Collection Papers with some of the awesome ITO Gima Yarn.

 

The sentiments and tiny flower are stamped from Alexandra Renke's Placed in Brackets Stamp set.

I'm also joining Seize the Birthday where the Topping Theme is Butterflies.

 

 

I used a variation of the sketch for my second card with another Gel Press Print scrap.

 

This card pops a bit more with the royal blue flowers ... elegant yet fun for an 80th birthday celebration.

 

I love that bucket of blooms ... the Happy Birthday Stamp is from Alexandra Renke Best Wishes.
