I have spent most of the day trying to return my studio to some sense of order. I had to unpack all of my supplies that I took with me to Junkiefest. I did better this year keeping things organized and making sure I had the right things for each class, but it's quite a chore to figure out what you need and how to transport it, so I end-up overpacking. I also had to find room for all of the new supplies I picked-up (some from the Swag Bag ... others from class supplies ... and yes, quite a bit from the store (The Ton had stamps half-off, so you know I had to stock-up)).
Unity Stamp Company also had all of their new releases for sale (after shopping I had fun making my way through their Instagram Hop to see all of the cards). One of the sets was the lovely ...shimmer & shine by Gracielle Designs (the July 2019 sentiment kit). I thought it would be perfect to ink-up for the July Unity Stamp Company Challenge, which is is Empowerment ... to make a project that builds someone up.
I also recently booked my flight to NYC/NJ for Art Camp 2019 with Lauren. Several years ago we tried Paper Marbling and managed to marble quite a few pieces with the kit we had purchased. The fun thing about Art Camp is that with two solid days of creating, we end-up with lots of paper ... the bad thing about Art Camp, is that I still have piles of cool paper that need to find a home. So today I decided to use one of those marbled pieces of Map Index toward the bottom of the picture for my card.
I stamped the Sunflower using Gina K. Designs Black Amalgam Ink and Clear Embossed before cutting the page with a Octagon Stitched Die Cut. I cut it a second time from thicker watercolor paper to back the thin index paper.
I used the layout from this week's Freshly Made Sketches and die-cut my card base using the largest Octagon and black cardstock. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock and finished with some cupped floral sequins from Honey Bee Stamps that were in our Junkiefest Swag Bag.
Now to get this lovely little bit of empowerment off in the mail (because remember, you're card can't actually Empower someone unless you give it to them ... so no card hoarding).
I'm also linking-up at Marsha's Feminine Anything Goes Challenge at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges.
I love your marbling on printed paper! What kind of paint did you use? The effect is quite lovely and goes so well with your beautiful bold sunflower. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday.
