We're still TEXTING at Jingle Belles ... creating cards that primarily features some texty elements.

This week I had to ink up this new Texty Block Party Christmas Stamp from Uniko ... so many fun Christmas Phrases in my new Catherine Pooler Rouge Ink on Kraft.   My MISTI makes it so easy to get perfect coverage on a large stamp like this one.

 

 

I added some texty designer paper to finish the design and a gem on the top of the Santa Gnome's Hat.

I'm also joining the Uniko Anything Goes Challenge with a Masculine Twist, since this will be a Holiday Card for one of my male co-workers.

Stamping Friends Trifecta

The My Sweet Petunia Design Team is having fun creating with two of our dear friends ... Gina K. Designs and Picket Fence Studios.  Each company will be giving away a $50 gift certificate to one lucky blog commenter from all of the participant blogs.

 

I love Gina K.'s cardstock ... the colors are so vibrant and the card stock is the perfect sturdy weight.  I decided to stamp on three different colors of half sheets using the new Elegant Asters Stamp Set ... I thought it would be fun to have stamping on both the front and back of my folded card.  I used my Memory MISTI, so I could easily stamp off all the edges.

 

 

The first card used Gina K. Designs Sweet Mango Cardstock and the three flowers in the set.  I wanted a tone-on-tone look for each card, so I worked with a monochromatic design.

 

The Memory MISTI allowed me to stamp all three flowers at once, clean them with my Gina K. Designs Tidy Towel (love that thing) and then stamp again.

 

 

After filling my cardstock, I folded it in half and made my first card.  I stamped the large flower and two sets of leaves on Gina K. Designs Sea Glass cardstock and cut them out with the coordinating Dies.

 

 

I added some Eyelet Outlet Bling in the center of my bloom and some enamel dots before finishing with a sentiment from Picket Fence Studios Going to Be Okay.  I just love how her cardstock colors work together.

 

 

Next I decided to stamp with only the leaves in the set on Sea Glass Cardstock.

 

 

Aren't those leaves just beautiful.

 

 

Again I covered the entire half sheet and folded it to make my card.

 

 

I used more die cut leaves together with the Gina K. Designs Wishes Word Die cut from fun foam.  The sentiment is Picket Fence Studios Ways to Say Congrats paired with the tiny BEST Stamp from Gina. K. Designs Mini Wishes Stamp Set.  Love how it all works so well together.

For my final card, I combined the flowers and the leaves, which allowed me to stamp them all together using my Memory MISTI very quickly.  This time I used the yummy Jelly Bean Green Cardstock from Gina. K. Designs.

 

 

Stamping so many images at a time, my half sheet was filled in no time at all.

 

 

Next I stamped the butterfly from the Gina K. Designs Elegant Asters Stamp Set twice on Sea Glass Cardstock and die cut them.  Then I added some adhesive pearls.

 

 

I used more of my Fun Foam with the Gina. K. Designs Hello Word Die and perched my butterflies on several of the flowers ... this card just makes me happy.

I hope you had fun on my creative journey today ... if you don't have any of this yummy cardstock, you should really consider adding some to your stash.

Hibiscus Thank You

I wanted to join in the AlteNew May Inspiration Challenge, so I'm sneaking my card in under the wire.

 

I loved the weathered white background with the shadows ... and how it contrasted with the single bloom.  I didn't think I had enough variation in my purple inks to get the contrasts between the layers on the AlteNew Build-A-Flower Hibiscus, so I started with Yellow and then moved to my darkest purple ink.  For this flower, I actually found it easier to stamp the third layer first, and then move backward and forward with the lighter and darker colors (it made the aligning easier for me).

I used a single row of double foam tape for my flower & leaf, so I could get the curling dimension on both.

I found a piece of white weathered wood designer paper and then I embossed it with some ragged lines.  Next I brushed on some grey ink to bring in the shadow effect from the Inspiration Photo.  The Thank You sentiment is also from the Build-A Flower Hibiscus Set.

I'm also joining the Use a Die Cut Challenge at CCEE Stampers.

Always Take the Scenic Route

When I saw the current {PIN}Spirational Challenges, I knew I had to ink-up my Darkroom Door Guitar.

 

I loved the rustic textures of the background and the blue of the worn denim, so I stamped it in Navy Ink on a piece of White Wood Designer Paper ... I love how part of the wood grain pattern of the paper ended-up on the guitar (happy accidents).

 

I used two Stitched Rectangles from Simon Says Stamp to die cut a frame from kraft cardstock and attached them both to some friendship texty paper before splattering with navy watercolor paint.  I finished with a sticker sentiment.

I'm also joining the Simon Says Frame It Challenge.

Baby Wipe Distress Oxide Background

Today in the Stamp Junkies Group on Facebook (if you're not a member, come join), Chris Dayton shared a fun technique using Distress Oxide Inks, a Stencil and Baby Wipes. I immediately had to give it a try. 

My Baby Wipes weren't super-moist, so I think I would have gotten more contrast with newer wipes, but I still got the cool effect.  I inked ivory cardstock with the colors below, placed my Carabelle Studio Art Mask Large - Collection of Circles Stencil over the cardstock, put two baby wipes over the top and brayer to remove the Oxide Ink.

 

I decided to use a Mug Life sentiment stamp from Ink Road Stamps together with this week's Sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketches.

I added a couple of Coloring Book Butterfly Brads and Matte Finish Enamel Dots to finish the Sketch design.

PinkFresh Rainbow Mandala

I made my first ever PinkFresh Order last week, so I wanted to sneak a card in for their May Challenge, which is all about rainbow colors.

 

I incorporated all of the colors into my new PinkFresh Modern Mandala Die.

 

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch and had to get creative on the Leaf Element by using one of the PinkFresh Classic Tag Dies on my card base & finishing with some enamel dots.  Since I don't have any of their stamps (YET) I used a sticker sentiment.

 

Good Times

Sometimes a card is born completely from challenges ... like the card for this post.  It started with needing a masculine birthday card for a Co-Worker.

The first stop was the Worth Repeating Challenge at Unity Stamp Company.  I wanted a Beverage Theme for the Shopping Our Stash Get Your Drink On Challenge, so I went with my Memory MISTI and the beer mug from Unity Stamp Company Itty Bitty Keep Calm, have a BEER ... the Memory MISTI allowed me to keep the stamp in place and move my paper to line-up the mugs vertically.

 

I went with tone-on-tone stamping on kraft cardstock, which then I realized got me 2 of the 3 things needed to participate in the Retro Rubber Challenge (the Keep Calm stamp is from 2013), so I went back through my Unity Stash looking for a cake.

 

I found a birthday cake in Unity's Another Year Older ... only one problem ... it said Hugs and Kisses, which wouldn't work for a Co-Worker card ... so I had to get creative again.

 

I covered the text with a tiny strip of chocolate cardstock and added a tiny Good Times sticker as a layer.  I finished with a beer mug brad from Eyelet Outlet.  After I got the card assembled, I realized my focal mug of beer needed some beer in it ... so I stamped the mug again on kraft cardstock, colored it with a Spectrum Noir Marker, detail cut the mug part only, and attached it on top of my stamped mug.

And we just got back from having our own ice cold beer with some excellent Thai Cuisine from Nara Thai ... I could eat there every day.

 

Text Me

The next prompt at Jingle Belles is to create a card featuring text ... You could use letter stickers, book pages, dictionary pages, texty patterned paper or just create a card where the sentiment is the star of the show ... just make sure you get TEXTY.

I decided to use some of my massive designer paper stash and went on a treasure hunt for text ... I found it in Shimelle's American Crafts Christmas Magic collection.

 

I took my sketch and design inspiration from the current Fusion Card Challenge ... instead of a hedgehog, I've got an adorable little Penguin from Essentials by Ellen's Arctic Pals paired with his own tiny little snowman friend from EBE Ugly Sweater Accessories.  The background is Essentials by Ellen Alpine Snowfall Die cut on light blue paper positioned over a white circle.  The sentiment is from Arctic Pals as well.
