Marbled Christmas Ornament

We're Shaping Up for the New Year at Jingle Belles ... which means we're making shaped cards (anything but a square or rectangle will do).

I decided to go with a holiday ornament shape (if you click over to the Jingle Belles post, you'll see that great minds thought alike this week). 

First I die cut my Spellbinders Nestabilities Heirloom ornament from a piece of folded white cardstock (overlapping the die slightly so I would have a fold) and then I cut it a second time from a piece of hand-marbled paper I made (my husband affectionately dubbed it a Christmas Radish).  

 

I added a glitter paper topper and stripes and finished with a large Simon Says Stamp Alexis snowflake and tiny white rub-on sentiment.

Cats and More Cats

Today on the Technique Junkies Blog I'm sharing three fun cards made with the Hipster Cats Background ... come check them out.

 

 

Live It Up

The theme at the Inspired By Challenge is a Football Party.

 

I used a combination of football papers that include play drawings and grass from the field, as well as a white wood grain inspired by the background in the photo.

 

The Sketch is from this week's Fusion Card Challenge ... but instead of Penguins, my Black & White are the referee stripes.

 

I Love You More

The current challenge theme at Impression Obsession is All About Love.  Since they have some of my favorite wedding dies & sentiments, narrowing down what to use was the challenge.

 

I started by layering the Large Flourish Background die cut from Black & White on a light blue background (a technique I learned on this card at Stamp Joy in 2016).  Then I die cut my Bride & Groom from white canvas textured paper.

 

I finished with a lighter blue card base and one of my favorite Beatles song lyrics from the In My Life Sentiment.

Best Fishes

The theme at The Male Room is Nature, which was the perfect opportunity to break out a vintage book ... The Golden Book of Camping.  I love when a book can be rescued from the recycle pile and be given a second life.

 

This fabulous fishing image was perfect for a business-sized masculine birthday card.

 

I framed the picture in a coral pink to bring out that shade on the big fish.

 

I used Chipboard Letters, a sticker sentiment and a printed sentiment to finish my design ... I love the vibrancy of those vintage colors.

Incredible Washi Tape

The theme at the little red wagon challenge Stick It! ... to use washi tape.  It's been a while since I had some washi fun, so I pulled out my bin and created a background that started with the lego washi and built out from there using the primary colors and green.

 

I had some washi-like Marvel Comics Stickers in my stash, so I added them over the top for a super-fun mailable card for a comic book and lego lovin' guy.

Mondrian Mandala Birthday

Fellow My Sweet Petunia design team member Susie Wymer (LoveRibbons) is the Featured Stamper at SplitcoastStampers today, so I wanted to participate.

I chose this wonderful card she made with Rina K.'s Mandala Builder Set to inspire my design.  I loved the Mondrian feel of her design.

 

I used my MISTI to stamp out a combination of Squares and Circles from the Mandala Builder Stamp Set with Gina K. Designs Amalgam Ink and then clear embossed.  I tried several times without embossing, but was having a terrible time with bleeding with the paper I used. 

 

I chose 6 markers (2 shades each of blue, red & purple) from my Spectrum Noir Marker set.  I finished with a sentiment from Gina K. Designs Wreath Builder Stamp Set.

 

I'm also joining the Stamping Only Challenge at Seize the Birthday.

This week's Inspiration Challenge at SplitCoastStampers comes from the stores of Sherwin-Williams.  I chose this lovely room in neutral palettes to inspire my design.

 

The current challenge at Unity Stamp Company is to Let Your Designer Paper Shine, so I featured an Itty Bitty Sentiment Haters Gonna Hate {wit & wisdom} stamped in Catherine Pooler Black Jack Ink paired with Botanicals Paper from The Paper Studio.  I used my MISTI to get solid coverage.

 

I framed the top & bottom of my sentiment with Love from Lizi Pin-Stripe Peel-Off Stickers.  The layout is this week's Freshly Made Sketch I used two widths of Glittery Washi Tape for the vertical element in the sketch.

Pooping Jingle Bells

We're still creating What Santa Brought Us or other brand new products in our stash at Jingle Belles this week.

Santa brought me these fun Sassy Pants Holiday Sentiments from My Favorite Things (I'm already thinking about who might find this card in their mailbox).  

 

I paired it with pink holiday paper and a Jingle Bell Border from Memory Box cut from silver glitter paper. 

I finished with Love from Lizi Pin Stripe Peel-off silver stickers to frame my sentiment ... easy peasy.
