STAMPlorations is sponsoring the current Cupcake Inspiration Challenge, and I was thrilled to have the chance to design a card.
Remember, if you use my code at checkout -- STAMPGIRLSTEPHANIE -- when you shop at the STAMPlorations store, you get 20% off stamps, stencils and dies.
It's a Color Challenge to create with Pastels. This picture reminded me of the summers I spent making Cotton Candy at the annual city carnival ... I seriously loved doing it even though I was completely sticky and sugar-covered by the end of the night. Nothing better than the smile on a kids face (and lots of big kids too) when you hand them a huge cone of freshly made cotton candy.
I wanted to see if I could give my card that same melty, blendy coloration you get when the cotton candy starts to melt a bit in the humidity and heat.
I used four different colors of Distress Ink with the Dots and Dashes ARTplorations stencil to create my background.
Then I used my MISTI and three of the four inks (omitted the Victorian Velvet) to ink-up my cupcake and sentiment from Becca Cruger's STAMPlorations A Snarky Birthday to You by stamping multiple times and partially inking to get the blendy look I wanted.
I hope you'll break out your Pastels (and STAMPlorations products if you have them) and join the fun.
What a great combination of pastel colors! Love your design! Thanks so much for sharing your art with us as a guest sweetie this week at Cupcake Inspirations! Wendy DT
