The My Sweet Petunia design team is having fun hopping with Technique Tuesday today.
When I saw the Technique Tuesday Enjoyed Layered Flower set (and coordinating dies), I knew it would be perfect to use with my MISTI (and a set I would not have likely purchased in my pre-MISTI days).
Since this flower has 5 stamping layers (and the leaves have two), I used my Memory MISTI, which allows me to line up several of the stamps at one time. I cut a piece of cardstock large enough to do two flowers; I just flip the paper and stamp a second time on the other end.
The top flower is stamped once ... the bottom has two layers of ink.
Next I stamped the highlights on the petals by attaching that stamp to the top right corner of my Memory MISTI ... with the same paper rotation process, I can do multiple sets of images without moving my stamps.
When I had enough stamped, I removed those two stamps and set-up the stamps for the center of my bloom.
The final step were the dots in the center of the bloom & the outline.
I love how the die cuts have a nice even border of white around the blooms (it makes them very easy to line-up).
Next I used a similar process for the leaves. I found that it worked better for me to stamp the outline first with the darker ink, then you could line-up the veins easily with the solid stamp.
Once I had all of my parts done, then I had to decide on my card design. I usually move things around until I decide where I want my sentiment to be ... then I remove the die cut pieces, so I can stamp.
I ended-up making two cards using two different ENJOY Sentiments (there's also an Enjoy die cut included with the dies).
I attached the top flower directly to the card base and then used 3-D glue dots for the lower bloom for a bit of dimension. I finished with some green gems as embellishments.
These blooms just have so many color possibilities.
I moved the sentiment over to the left on my second card.
I also had fun creating a masculine card with Technique Tuesday's First Class Male.
I used the grid on the lid of my MISTI to help me get perfect alignment and centering for my stamps.
I originally tried inking in several colors, but ultimately just went with the Versafine Acorn ink. For stamps with inlaid sentiments like these, it's important not to over-stamp or use too juicy-of-an-ink or you can lose your sentiment.
This card will likely be stashed away for Father's Day.
And I couldn't resist the Hipster Birthday Stamp. I used my MISTI to do Ombre Inking with lighter brown on the top and darker on the mustache.
The MISTI makes it easy to stamp with each color to get a nice blend.
This will be a perfect masculine birthday card for my work stash.
Have fun hopping. We will choose two lucky commenters from the hop to win one of two prizes: a $50 shopping spree at www.mysweetpetunia.com and a $50 shopping spree at www.techniquetuesday.com - you must leave comments no later than Monday, May 28th, at 11:59 PM CST and winners will be announced on Tuesday May 29th, on the Technique Tuesday and My Sweet Petunia blogs.
Oh this is super! Everything masculine in one perfect stamp set and your card is amazing :) Love the brightness of the flower card - it's so cheerful! TFS ♥

Excellent ink color choices all around. I just got the Clair Nocturne ink, and now I'm have a serious yen for all the clairs, especially if they give results like this! And I love the color combo you chose for your flower. Thanks for sharing these lovely stamps and techniques with us!

You've shared a fab range of cards today. I find layering stamps very intimidating, but your technique makes it seem so easy. Thanks for the inspiration.
