Tonight I took a Mixed Media class just a few steps from my home (which made the access to my studio for extra art supplies oh-so-easy). We had an art class in the lobby of our condominium building ... so fun to make art with lots of other artsy folks.
The grid of hearts on the right was the sample of the project we were making ... and that lovely smiling lady is our teacher, Mixed Media Artist Dori Patrick.
We started by drawing a grid on our canvas (I worked with a 12" x 12") and then added modeling paste for texture. Next we added papers and fabric (and in my case some lace too) to create the grid backgrounds or the hearts.
I was pretty painty & messy, so I didn't take many work-in-progress photos, but here's the finished piece. I was really happy with how it turned out for a three-hour project.
I especially loved the Pebeo shimmery pearl teal paint ... must get a tube of my own to try with Gel Press printing.
I love this!!

I would love to take a mixed media class in our city as I would have to drive 40 or 50 miles to find one and most are at night and I don't like night driving. This is Stunning, fantastic job.
