Fluevog Inspired

I love shoes ... I really love unique shoes (especially if they're comfortable) ... so I've been wanting a pair of John Fluevog shoes for a long time, but can't find a place to try them on to see how they fit.  So for now, I just wish from afar.

This week's SCS Inspiration challenge is from Fluevog Shoes ... I chose these fabulous Tziporah Shoes to inspire my design.

I started by punching circles from two shades of teal, gold metallic and cream cardstock and then attached them in row, overlapping like the shoe design on a neutral card base.

To incorporate the stitched element, I embossed using Essentials by Ellen Stitches Cover Plate.  I finished with a birthday sentiment from Stampin' Up's Perfect Pairings.  I rounded the sentiment end to bring in that element from the shoe strap.

Snowman Joy

This week we're getting sketchy at Jingle Belles ... I created this one old school with sharpies and punches.

To me, there are just so many possibilities for this layout ... you can flip it every which way and replace the circles with whatever you want ... for me it was puffy snowman stickers.  Yes, I used an entire sheet of stickers on a single card ... and I love it.

I love how the guy standing on his head has arms to short to even do a handstand ... that's pretty much how I felt every time I tried.  This card just makes me happy.

Just Soar

When we went out to eat brunch on Sunday, I was mesmerized by the gorgeous art printed on dictionary pages that they had adorning the bar.  I've been thinking about creating with vintage dictionary pages ever since ... and when I saw the TEXT Challenge at CASology, I knew I had to pull one out.  

I'm always on the lookout for vintage dictionaries at used book stores and estate sales ... especially if they're falling apart ... because then it feels appropriate to give them a second life.

I chose the page that had Cardinal because I knew I wanted to ink-up my new Framed Cardinal Stamp from STAMPlorations (because it has a texty background ... so it's a double-text-card).  I colored my bird with Spectrum Noir markers ... I love how the text shows through the transparent hues.

CAS Colours & Sketches is the source of my layout ... and the sentiment is from STAMPlorations Noteworthy 2.  And my new best friend my MISTI made sure I got perfect coverage when I stamped, which can be particularly tricky on vintage papers.

I'm also joining the SPRING Challenge at STAMPlorations.

 

Anthropomorphism

Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human traits, emotions and intentions to non-human entities.  

It is a theme you see often in the stamping world ... animals do all sort of human-like behaviors ... like dress in classy clothes for instance.

I love this Fox & Friends Wide Washi Tape ... especially that dapper argyle vest.  

 

You get more translucent colors when you attach it to white cardstock.

 

You get a different effect when you use it on grey cardstock ... a bit more muted.

 

 

I couldn't resist pairing the Fox & Friends with this fun goat from Tim Holtz Hipster stamp set.  I'm sure it would be one heckuva party with this animal crew.  I added a strip of pearls to pull out the teal hues a bit more and added a pop of color to his tie with colored pencil.

 

I think the tape on this light green cardstock is my favorite ... the colors seem to pop a bit more.

 

 

The washi tape critters pair so perfectly with this sassy ostrich ... she was colored with Spectrum Noir Markers.

 

 

Floral Thankful

The PaperTrey Ink March Blog Hop Challenge comes from Victoria Johnson floral prints.

Since I don't have any PaperTrey Ink floral stamps in my collection, I started with a piece of floral designer paper that reminded me of the prints.

I originally intended to put the yellow Thankful Die from the Counting my Blessings Die Set directly on the floral paper, but it got lost in all of the patterns. Next, I added a strip of coordinating pink cardstock, and then the yellow die cut was too light.  I die cut a second Thankful from navy cardstock and layered the sentiments ... and then it was just right (third time is the charm).  

I finished with a paper flower and some mint green punch leaves.

I thought the Doily Challenge at the Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog (I have a serious collection of doilies, so using my stuff was a good theme for me) worked perfectly with this week's Mojo Monday Sketch ... doesn't that big circle just scream DOILY.

I had these fun rainbow hued ombre doilies in my stash ... this one fades from yellow to blue.  I love how the pastel colors pop on the black background.

I also love this sentiment from Stampin' Up Sending Thoughts.  I finished with a black resin rose from Eyelet Outlet.

Vintage Rainbow

The theme at the current Neat & Tangled Little Tangles Challenge is Rainbow, which is perfect for a rainy weekend.

I decided my rainbow would be this awesome vintage ViewMaster Designer paper (I loved my ViewMaster ... wish I still had it).  I kept my image & sentiment from For the Record in Neutral tones with a pop of Red.

I love how the vintage ViewMaster is in keeping with my vintage theme.

Neon Coffee (and Tea) Lover

STAMPlorations has released lots of great new Coffee-themed Die Cuts and Stamps ... and I got the chance to play with some for the STAMPlorations Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

I made a fun trio of Neon Cards using the new CUTplorations Tag O'Coffee.

This is usually my go to beverage ... I almost always get an iced drink, even in the winter time ... Iced Coconut Chai Latte with Coconut Milk from Argo Tea is my favorite.  Whenever I'm near one (usually Chicago) I have at least one a day.

I do drink hot tea when I am at home.  My favorite brew is Tulsi Dosha Chai from Teavana with some coconut milk creamer.

My husband is a coffee drinker ... I love the smell, but just can't stand the taste.  Sentiments on all three cards are from STAMPlorations Coffee Happy.  I love the tiny typed font.

These will make a fun little gift set to a coffee lover in my family.

Regal Christmas

We're still creating with all things sparkly at Jingle Belles this week.  I chose to take my inspiration from Inspired by All the Little Things.

I started with some new DCWV Purple Paper and inked the edges with several Distress Inks.

Next I die cut my large snowflake from gold glitter paper and embossed it before layering on two more punched snowflakes and an Eyelet Outlet Champagne gem.

I finished with purple swirl gems from Eyelet Outlet and a Stampotique sentiment.

With my three punches, I'm also joining Simon Says Stamp to use more than one die or punch.
