The theme at this month's Impression Obsession Challenge is Season's Greetings.
I used this week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch together with Impression Obsession's Merry On (B14288) with Die Cut Christmas Icons (DIE220-Q) for a quick & easy CAS design.

I know it doesn't look like it, but I managed to spend the better part of a day making this card. I had several ideas in my head inspired by the Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights Challenge, but I had a heckuva a time getting any of them translated to paper.
I really loved the look of the peeling paint in the middle right, so I tried a variety of wood grain embossing folders with paints and inks, but none were quite the right color or look. Next I tried Crackle Distress Paint, but that color wasn't right either (and I didn't get a lot of crackle despite applying a medium coat and waiting forever to air dry). I finally settled on Broken China Distress Stain swiped across kraft cardstock for my background.
The prize stag and card base are both cut from a dark bronze metallic cardstock, although for the life of me I couldn't get the shimmer captured in the photograph. I managed to miff-up 6 different Doodlebug mini doilies (either tearing them while inking with Distress Stain or applying adhesive or getting some other color from my craft table on to the paper ... one of the risks of working with Color Burst ... the powders hang around if you don't really sanitize your area). It only took two attempts at the EBE Prize Stag before getting that one right.
I love the final result with a sentiment from Essentials by Ellen Fancy Thanks ... but I think I should just walk away from the studio and go read a book (I just started reading the Biography of Alexander Hamilton).
Julie Comstock has a new line called Creative Girls that you can pick-up at JoAnn's. I placed an online order last week and added one of the small water-color resist pads to my shopping cart.
My first card was inspired by this picture from today's Splitcoast Stampers Inspiration Challenge. It's doing a resist design with a white crayon by Alisa Burke.
I did my resist using Color Burst Watercolor Powders ... I wanted sort of a tie die effect.
The Creative Girl cards were sturdy enough to withstand layers of Color Burst and Water. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Rewind.
I got a little heavy on the color on this one, but the resist letters still show through clearly. There was a metallic diamond in the paper, but I found a glittery one on my studio table from Essentials by Ellen Hutson, so I attached it with foam tape for a bit more sparkle.
One of our favorite things about a big Thanksgiving dinner ... are the leftovers (turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sandwich anyone?) ... so this week we're celebrating Holiday Leftovers at Jingle Belles.
We're asking you to make a card using scraps, offcuts, an image you colored but never used, the last sticker in the packet or... whatever "leftover" bits and bobs you have laying around. Oh and be sure to *tell* us what your *leftovers* are so we can marvel at your cleverness!
I have a container where I toss all of my *extra* die cut images. I decided to see if I could make a card using only those *leftovers* as my focal image.
I combined Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Filmstrip in Silver with the outline from Memory Box Tall Taper Candle in a silver flecked navy.
I used this week's Retro Sketch incorporating scraps of paper for the rest of the design and a Tim Holtz Sticker for the sentiment.

I can't believe I almost missed making a card for one of my favorite challenges ... especially when it involves a mash-up of two of my favorite stamp companies ... Essentials by Ellen & Mama Elephant. Yes, I'm talking about the Mix It Up Challenge.
I combined the Santa Dude from Essentials by Ellen Tis the Season with what I think is the perfect sentiment from Mama Elephant's Hustle.
I tried stamping it in several colors, but somehow those sunglasses just needed to be black. I used this week's Sunday Stamps Sketch with traditional holiday colors ... red & green glitter paper ... and of course a red gem for his Santa Hat.
I'm also joining Mama Elephant's November Challenge to make a card and send it to someone ... this will most certainly be going to someone whose sense of humor is just as warped as mine.
When I saw the colors at the MFT Color Challenge, I immediately thought of Christmas ... so I challenged myself to create something that wasn't Christmas.
I started with the layout from the As You See It Challenge and went looking for something I could use as my focal image.
I found some Tim Coffey 3-D Cardinal Stickers from K & Company in my stash and built my card around the bird.
I decided to go with a Thinking of You theme for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge using a sentiment from You've Got Mail.
My husband decided it would be appropriate for our St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan friends as we look to the next baseball season.
I wanted to see how Color Burst Water Color Powders would work with Prima Resist Canvas Butterflies ... and I love the results.
I assembled my card using a layout from the Stick It Down Challenge.
The background paper was made by smooshing a piece of white cardstock into the left over watercolors that were on my craft mat after coloring the butterflies.
I'm also joining the Brown Sugar Challenge where they're using No Patterned Paper.
At the CCEE Stampers they are celebrating Sesame Street Day, which was the perfect opportunity to ink-up one of my Sesame Street stamps.
I was playing with Color Burst Water Color powders and had a lot of color leftover on my craft mat, so I grabbed a few pieces of white cardstock and swiped them through the color so it didn't go to waste. The background for this card is one of those pieces (which is perfect for Watercolor Trend Week at Just Us Girls).
I stamped Super Grover on the water colored cardstock in Black Ink and clear embossed.
I added a Tim Holtz Sticker sentiment and some golden corrugated paper using the sketch from TGIF Challenges.
I finished with a wrap of black leather cord.
We're still celebrating the food & drink of the holidays at Jingle Belles.
I collect vintage Ideals magazines because they remind me of my Gran. She always had the edition for the current holiday on her coffee table in her formal living room, and I remember spending hours looking at the pictures and reading the poems.
For this card, I scanned a page from one of those magazines and sized it for my card.
Making and decorating Christmas cookies was always such a festive occasion ... it seems like there are certain cookies you only have this time of the year. I decorated my poem with the holly leaves and berries cut from Memory Box Cabrini Ornament together with a few punched holly leaves.
