We just returned from a vacation adventure to Louisiana and Florida. Unfortunately, my stomach bug lasted way too long, so I didn't get to enjoy the foods I had hoped, but we had an awesome time nonetheless.
We stayed in downtown New Orleans and spent lots of time walking around and enjoying the near perfect weather.
My tummy was most grateful for snowballs ... the perfect (although very messy) refreshing treat.
We enjoyed exploring the National World War II Museum (and learned why it is located in New Orleans).
Our favorite meal was at The Irish House where Rod declared their Bangers & Mash the best he ever had (and they served a refreshing fruity lemonade that really hit the spot with me).
And of course we had to try the Beignets at Cafe du Monde ... although we thought the ones we had at Cafe Beignet tasted better ... and with live music and drink choices, it was a much better experience.
We even encountered several impromptu parades during our wandering ... gotta love a parade.
Next we drove westward to explore the towns and beaches of Florida Scenic Highway 30A. We stayed at the Hibiscus Guest House in Grayton Beach, which was a short walk from a beautiful public beach. I couldn't get enough of playing in the waves.
We also enjoyed exploring Seaside.
We enjoyed eating at the Sóng Food Truck where we shared some Banh Minis. We usually don't enjoy eating outside ... but the weather was so perfect, we loved it.
After our Beach Adventures we headed back for one more day in New Orleans before flying home. We loved exploring the New Orleans Art Museum ... especially the outdoor sculpture garden ... such a great space to spend the afternoon.
While it's always fun to travel ... it's even better to be home safely. I have missed my studio.
