On my recent trip to New York with Lauren, we scored a foodie home run almost every day. Thankfully we both love to eat & are both pretty adventurous in our food preferences, so we were able to share dishes at most meals (which allowed us to try more things).
Our first stop in NYC was at the famous Shake Shack. We had tried stopping there on previous trips, but the lines were just too long for our hunger to wait. This time it was mid-afternoon on a week day, so the wait was manageable & we even found a seat.
We shared a Smoke Stack (Cheeseburger topped with Niman Ranch all-natural applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper and ShackSauce), fries and two scoops of the daily custard flavor ... Waffles & Bacon.
We treated ourselves to supper at Devi. We started our feast with Fish Pakora Tacos. Next we shared Prune paneer Kofta Kallyan (prune stuffed Indian cheese dumplings, saffron, onion & yogurt). It was perfectly complemented by Bhindi Ka Raita (okra chips with a delicious yogurt sauce) and Spinach-Goat Cheese Kulcha.
And after all that, we still had room for Gulab Jamun Creme Brulee.
The next day we had a delicious Red Velvet Ice Cream Sandwich from Melt Bakery while we walked The High Line.
Lunch on Wednesday was Dim Sum at The Golden Dragon in China Town. Cha sio bao is one of my favorite treats.
I saw these yummy noodles on several other tables, so I had to try them.
And of course we had to save rooms for sesame balls & egg custard tarts.
Our feet were tired after a full day of walking, so we dined at Sam's Place for supper, which was near our hotel. We shared an amazing Veal Saltimbocca and the house made Italian salad dressing was so good, I sopped every last drop from my plate.
On Thursday, we had lunch at Robert @ MAD, which is the restaurant on the top floor of the Museum of Arts and Design. The Hibiscus Tea was so refreshing.
And the view of New York & Central park was breath-taking.
Next Lauren took me to Grom Gelato (we both have a serious weakness for this delicious frozen treat).
For supper, we stayed near our hotel again dining at Hiroshi Sushi. I enjoyed Tuna Tataki.
And a little Salmon Roe for a salty finish.
I hope you enjoyed our little dining tour of NYC ... we sure did.
