I used the Sunday Sketch Challenge at Studio Calico to create a masculine birthday card for my stash ... I love number papers for birthday cards.
I added several wooden embellishments inked with India Ink and a brad ... rather than poking it through the paper, I trimmed off the legs and attached with a dimensional glue dot. The stamp on the little ATC card was from the Penn Station Kit.
There's a new release this week at Crafter's Companion called Faerie Poppets ... and I've got a little sneak peak.
One thing I really like about the Crafter' s Companion Stamp sets is that in addition to the main image, they include fun borders and sentiments. My card is made using the flower border from a new set called Heralds of Spring.
I added lots of paper flowers and finished with a sentiment you can find in the Red Poppy Fairie Set. I used tag punches and added a bit of ribbon before attaching with foam tape.
Tonight I decided to play along with this week's Fusion Card Challenge. The floral pattern inspired me to go thorugh my designer papers and find an all-over floral pattern ... which I found in Basic Grey's PB&J Collection.
And since chemistry was one of my favorite classes, I couldn't resist the Fusion Option to combine the pattern with the sketch.
I added pieces of other papers fron the collection together wtih a layered bloom ... I finished with one of my hoarded EAD Designs Vinyl Rub-ons ... I know I've said it before, but I really wish someone would make those again ... I just love how they pop on patterned paper.
I bought these Technique Tuesday stamps because they remind me of my three adorable nieces ... and they worked perfectly with this week's Unscripted Sketch.
I stamped them in Artprint Brown ink on heavy Ivory Linen paper and clear embossed. I added a piece of texty washi tape to finish the design.
When Jo suggested this week's SplitCoast Challenge Inspiration Site Dry Goods there were several pieces I found inspiration. However, when I found this St. Louis Cardinals Glitter Heart Tee, I looked no further ... I never pass-up an opportunity to make a Cardinals card.
I started with some St. Louis Cardinal designer paper I picked-up on one of our trips to Missouri. Next I die cut some hearts in keeping with the shirt design. The smaller heart was cut from red corrugated paper, which I sanded to reveal the kraft core and then added white ink to distress it like the heart on the shirt.
I stamped one of the many baseball stamps I have in my collection using Red Ink with a little brown around the edges. I finished with some Chevron embossed blue cardstock & stickers that came with the scrapbook paper kit.
I'm also joining Card Crafter's Circle where this week's challenge is to create a masculine card ... and Stampin' for the Weekend where they're using Die Cuts.
This week at Jingle Belles, we're celebrating things that fly. Since peace stamps are some of my favorite for the holidays, I featured my Peace Dove from Stampendous. I stamped it once on the kraft journaling card ... and a second time on ivory design paper to do some paper piecing.
Papers are Simple Stories Homespun Holiday ... and layout is from Sketch Saturday.
And one lucky participant will receive the Reindeer Flight Die Cut from Tim Holtz Alterations.

The April Challenge Theme at the Crafter's Companion Blog is ... Flowers. I'm going to show you how I created a fun inky background using Aluminum Foil from my kitchen ... I never know where I'll find my next art project inspiration.
I started with a scrap of white cardstock. Make sure it's about 1/4 to 1/2" smaller than the surface of your embossing folder, since you won't be able to trim after you emboss (she says because she learned the hard way). Next, I wrapped it in a piece of aluminum foil.
I inked-up a piece of felt with several reinkers (see supply list below) and started tamping on the foil covered paper.
Here's a shot of my foam applicator ... I just apply dots randomly.
This is what the foil looked like when it was completely covered in ink.
Next I ran the foil through my cuttlebug with the embossing folder. I applied a little blender solution to a dry baby wipe and wiped along the lines of the folder to randomly remove some of the ink to get a bit more variation in color.
I attached the panel to the front of my card base using strong two-sided tape.
The great think about using your Spectrum Noir inks to create your background is that I was able to use coordinating Spectrum Noir Markers to color several flowers from Sheena's Flower Power Set.
After coloring, I gave them a spray of Spray & Sparkle Iridescent Glitter Varnish for an all-over sparkle I also stamped and colored the leaves from the set and then detail cut every thing. I layered the flowers and leaves with dimensional blue dots and added a few adhesive pearls to the center. This angle lets you see a little of the sparkle on the blooms.
Here's the front of the card again at an angle, so you can see the variation in ink intensity on the embossed foil.

I really wanted to add some bling to this design, but I was determine to make a one layer card for the current challenge at The Paper Players ... so I had to just let it be.
I went with the Neon Hues with this week's Lightning Hot Play Date Cafe Colors. The layout is another attempt at this week's CAS{E} This Sketch.
I stamped a 2008 Limited Edition Studio Calico Stamp three times with Neon Yellow Ink. Next I added my sentiment from Hero Arts Glow Girl in Neon Pink and finished with a shadow colored arrow from Oh Snap. You'd think this simple design would have been quick to execute, but there were at least three (or maybe more) attempts that went into the trash before I got clean, lined-up images ... CAS isn't always easier.
This card is my message for the week ... life is hard enough without being overly hard on yourself.
I started with this week's CAS{E} This Sketch and beautiful Papaya Arts Muses Glitter Stickers. I stamped a *love yourself* stamp I found in the $1 bin at Michael's in Charcoal Chalk ink, but my eye-balling was a bit off and the love landed right on the decorative edge of the sticker ... and was unreadable.
Well, there was no way I was going to let those pretty stickers to go waste, so I went with plan B and cut the word *love* from an SRM Sticker to cover to the boo-boo ... love that grungy font.
Remember ... love yourself this week (and always).
