Beachy Birthday

The March AEI♥U Challenge is to make a card inspired by this beautiful photograph.

I loved the blues & whites and serene beachy theme, so that's what I incorporated into my design.

I started with designer paper from Deja Views Soda Pop Summer and added a Polaroid Say Cheese Die Cut Frame.  I used stamps from the Avery Elle Picture It Set stamped in blue & brown inks.  I stamped the washi tape on scraps of the background paper so little bits of blue would show through.  I also added the tiny heart in the lens of the camera.  I finished with a wrap of seam binding tied in a tiny bow.

The speech bubble sentiment is perfect for the Moxie Fab World Speech Bubble Challenge.

Just Because

This week's Unscripted Sketch card came together quick & easy ... which was good since I managed to slice off the end of my right thumb while cutting cucumbers with my mandolin ... so my ability to work on details has been limited by the big bandage.

Dear Lizzy Neopolitan Chevron paper with a doily and pre-made dimensional tag.  I finished with some adhesive pearls.

Spirited Falling Feathers

I've said it before ... but I love when an Inspiration Challenge pushes me to try something I never would ahve otherwise.  This week's card for the SplitCoast Stampers Inspiration Challenge was inspired by this Mara Hoffman Feather Maillot from Madewell.

I loved the vertical falling feather design and the color combination ... so I just started inking & stamping with my Falling Feather stamps from Crafter's Companion.

I began with the aquamarine feathers under the ribbon and then stamped lime pastel next (stamping each lime feather twice without aligning cause a natural slight overlap) and then stamped the same feather again on top with black.  Next, another row of aquamarine, and then I finished with tiny feathers in Teal Zeal on the top and bottom.   When I was done I trimmed to my card front size and used a ticket worner punch on an olive green base.

The final touch was the Spirited sentiment from the same stamp  set & a wrap of wide teal ribbon.  Here's a close-up of that great swimsuit pattern.

Peace on Earth

We're still celebrating neutral colors at Jingle Belles this week ... last week I created with black and silver ... this week my card is composed of various shades of browns and tans.

The Memory Box Flowering Christmas Tree is cut from Wood Grain paper from Basic Grey's Life of the Party Collection ... which is perfect for the Woodgrain Challenge at the City Crafter Challenge.  Next I layered papers from DCWV's new White Fern Stack.  I finished with an A Muse sentiment and tan pearls to decorate my tree.

Butterflies in Paris

The March Challenge at Crafter's Companion is Vintage ... all you have to do is link-up a creation featuring at least one Crafter's Companion stamp and you'll have a chance to win a $30 gift certificate.

The Stamp-It Australia images are perfect for vintage collage stamping.  I combined images from Birds & Butterflies, French Travels and Sentiment Swirls.

After stamping, I did lots of sponging with Vintage Photo Distress Ink & Old Paper Distress Ink.  I distressed the edges and added it to a Kraft card base before adding a champagne pearl flourish and some teal gems to finish the design.

Runway Black Dress

I love the photo for this week's Runway Inspired Challenge ... Moschino Cheap & Chic.  I incorporated some glittery sparkle ... fuchsia & black ... and Basic Grey's Little Black Dress papers.

I die cut a Stampin' Up doily from fuchsia glitter paper ... and layered on Basic Grey papers.

I added a wrap of black paper source ribbon, button & SRM Sticker Sentiment using this week's Basic Grey Sketch.

Washi Tape Muse

When I saw this week's Muse Challenge Inspiration card by Marion Vagg,

I immediately thought ... monochromatic washi tape ... so I grabbed all of my blue washi tapes and started playing.

To get a similar contrast to her design, I added some white rub-ons from my hoarded EAD Designs stash.

Washi Tape Easter Eggs

When I saw the Washi Tape Challenge at the Moxie Fab World Blog, I knew i wanted to try decorating some Easter Eggs.  I bought some foam glitter Easter Eggs at Michael's this weekend, but despite my best efforts, could not get the tape to stick to the glittery texture, so instead i used those Easter Eggs as a template.

I covered white cardstock with rows of Washi Tape, and the flipped it over to trade my Easter Egg template on the back (so no pencil lines show on the front).  I added an SRM sticker sentiment to the Easter egg and another along the bottom of my card.

Same technique ... slightly different combination of washi & sentiment stickers.

Tonight I had a little Chipboard fun with this week's CAS-ual Fridays Challenge.

I started by coloring my chipboard (grungeboard) skull with PL4 Spectrum Noir Marker (love that coverage).  Next I added a spray of Pearl Glimmer Mist for sparkle.  I colored my crown with Antiqued Bronze Distress Stain and added a bit of Stickles glitter.

I finished by cutting my frame & adding a Donna Downey Unity Art & Possibility sentiment using this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.

I'm also joining Less is More, where the theme is Frame It.
