Ready for Red

I've had the sketch from Kathy's Waffle in my *to-do" file all month ... and when I saw the Ready for Red Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab World blog tonight, and idea finally came together.

I loved the grey floral pattern with the contrast of the wood and lovely red chair ... I also incorporated the positioning of the chair and used a polka dotted embossed paper (inked for dimension) because it reminded me of the tufting in the upholstery ... I also inkcorporated wooden veneer butterflies from Studio Calico for the wood element in the design.

I stamped Hero Arts Leaf & Flower Background in Charcoal chalk ink before adding my paper & wooden elements all inked with a variety of red & maroon inks.   I finished with grey ribbon and several words to express the spirit of the design.

Carpe Diem

Love this week's sketch from The Paper Players ... I combined it with some MME Cowboy papers, RRD Stamps and a little Kraft for CAS-ual Fridays.

To keep in CAS, my only embellishment was an adhesive pearl to adorn her chapeau.

Map to My Heart

I had fun playing with more vintage maps tonight ... inspired by the Moxie Fab World Square Punch Challenge.

I chose a map of Missouri, my home state, and had fun punching out different cities and counties from my life history ... and then added stamps from Studio Calico/Hero Arts Air Mail to complete the design.  I love how the poppin' frames bring out the colors in the vintage map design.

Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Negative

At the Catered Crop Recipe Swap they are Accentuating the Negative this week ... creating cards featuring negative space.  When I saw this week's CAS(E) This Sketch, I knew I had the perfect combination.

Yesterday while I was out running errands, I stumbled upon an Estate Sale.  Estate Sales were new to me when I moved to Iowa ... they literally put a price tag on everything in a person's house from boxes of silverware to bottles of shampoo to closets filled with clothes ... and you walk through the house getting a glimpse into their past life.  Some of my favorite finds are scrapbooks, boxes of cards ... and of course, books and vintage papers.  

Yesterday I found a small atlas filled with colorful maps ... I used a page of the Iowa map for my card design.  I attached it to cardstock for some thickness, and then attached both layers to the card front with foam tape for dimension.

The stamps are the Geotagged Set from Mama Elephant.  I added a few punched hearts to finish the design.

You Put the Awesome ...

This week's Unscripted Sketch has so many possibilities ... for me, I flipped the sketch because I saw banners.

All stamps are from Technique Tuesday (Awesome & Be Jolly) using papers from Basic Grey's Clippings Collection.

Fabric Flower Inspired

One thing I love about the SCS Inspiration Challenge is that it challenges me to do things I've never done.  When I saw this amazing Leather Flower Bracelet from Agate Christina, I was really inspired by the color combination ... and those beautiful chocolate blooms ... something I probably never would have considered on my own.

I found some beautiful velvet patterned specialty paper tucked away in my stash and I die cut multiple sizes of Tattered Blooms for layers.  I also cut the small bloom from a soft gold shimmer paper, as well as some detailed flourishes.

Next I went searching for some textured purple paper and put my design together using this week's Retro Sketch.  I decided this would work well for a wedding or anniversary card, so I added a Congrats sentiment by Hero Arts.

Jolly Penguin Bingo

I"m a rather chaotic crafter ... when my weekend of creating is finished there are ink pads, embellishments and piles of paper on every empty space ... and sometimes my best inspiratoin comes from those piles.

I wanted to find a way to use these last few 3-D penguin stickers ... and as i was considering several options, I saw this Bingo card among the paper mess, and voila ... Jolly Penguin Bingo (with a silver snowflake on the free-space for good neasure).  The versatile layout is this week's iSpy Sketch & sentiment is an EAD Designs Rub-on.
