For this week's SCS Inspiration Challenge we're headed to one of my favorite stores ... PIer 1 Imports. I chose this fun little Holiday Owl Garden Flag to inspired my design.
My original plan was to use my Stampin' Up Owl punch and add a scarf, but when I was looking through my supplies, I saw this awesome texty Big Eyes Owl from Hero Arts, and my design idea wandered off ... I wanted to find a way to turn him into a holiday owl.
I stamped the owl once in green and a second time in blue to pull in the colors from the flag. I cut out the eyes and nose and paper-pieced them onto my design (using foam tape behind the eyes for a bit of dimension). Next I made a Santa hat by using scalloped & oval die cuts for the brim & a folded triangle for the hat. I added a fuzzy pom pom to complete the design.
I used a round Snowflake and pearl to create a holiday ornament to dangle from my tree branch ... and managed to get a red ink smudge at the right side of my card. I decided to use it as an *embellishment opportunity" by adding the dimension of some punched leaves to cover my *oops* ... and to join the Punches Challenge at Simon Says Stamp.
I used a sketch from Hero Arts for their Holiday Card and Die Cut themes for October. I finished with a sentiment from Lower Case Greetings ... You could read it as ho ho ho ... or perhaps hoo hoo hoo.
Gorgeous card Stef :-) I just spotted this on a thumbnail and had to pop over :-) I love how you made this into a Christmas card ,, very creative ! Love the little bauble hanging on the branch ,, lovely touch :-)
