I stumbled across the Index Card a Day project on Nicole Maki's Blog. It sounded like the perfect summer project, particularly since we're having new flooring installed in almost half of our house on Monday (including my studio), which means my access to creativity will be limited until everything is finished & put back together.
Tammy has some prompts on her blog to help get you started. The idea of a map spoke to me, so that is where I started. My sister gave me lots of great maps last week, so I wanted to use one of them. I decided on Washington DC, since we had so much fun there last year. This map is of the metro system we used to travel around the city.
I broke out some old-school vintage rub-ons that I'm afraid to use on cards because the aging has made them pretty unpredictable, but decided they would be perfect for this project.
For June 2nd, I incorporated a favorite quote into my project.
I almost started over when I missed the *i* in discover (a very common problem I have when writing something ... my brain gets ahead of my hand), but decided to leave it since it captures who I am. After writing the quote with a black fine point sharpie marker, I stamped the Hero Arts Fabric Background in my favorite shade of orange and then added another vintage rub-on and sitcker.
If you're looking for a fun art outlet for the summer (Nicole is sharing the process with her kiddos), join us.
So super happy you are playing along!!! It's going to be a fun ride...

Great map! Isn't it nice to have a project to use up some languishing supplies?

what a wonderful quote! I'm going to write that one down so I can remember it and use it myself, it's begging to be noticed in my life.
Lovely cards too, can't wait to see what else you come up with in the next couple months.

The map card is gorgeous and I love the technique you used on the second card. I'm going to try that out.
Thanks so much for the inspiration and for the shout out :-)
