It's been a discombobulated week at my house. Last weekend we emptied over half of our house (including my studio), so we could have new flooring installed. The salesperson told us it was a one day project, which I thought was a tad ambitious ... turns out my estimate was closer to correct.
Here it is 7 days later ... and while we do have flooring down in 3 of the 5 rooms .. there are no moldings around the floor boards yet, so we can't start moving things back into place. My husband took pitty on me last night & moved in my craft table, paper cutter, and ink, so I could at least create a bit today. He was smart to suggest that I pack-up all of my paper in our suitcases, where it stayed nice and flat (but very heavy).
This disorientation made me grateful for the Index Card a Day project ... which is portable art. I had one small pad of designer paper, alphabet stickers, washi tape and a few stamps & inks ... and this is what I made.
June 3rd ~ Grid
My attempt at creating a grid with washi tape. I tried stamping with India ink, but without embossing powder (who knows where that might be), it was hard to make it stick ... I ended-up with more on my fingers than my card, but I still ike the effect once it finally dried.
June 4 ~ My Name
Growing up, I hated that my name was often too long to fit in standardized forms ... but refused to go by Steph or any other nickname. Now I don't mind as much when people call me Steph (or Stef ... or SmilynStef).
June 5 ~ Map of an Imaginary Place
A far away peaceful land with lots of butterflies, ocean waves & sea shells in the sand (what I was wishing for that day ... instead I was sitting in the middle of the front yard in a lawn chair ... the only place I could connect to a wireless signal ... trying to resolve a leak discovered in our bathroom, which led to more unplanned home repairs).
June 6 ~ Alphabet (Dictionary)
One of the prompts this week was dictionary ... but I couldn't find my dictionary in all of the piles of stuff, so instead I used alphabet letter stickers on a washi tape striped background ... everything from A to Z.
June 7 - Memorial
My dear sister lost her faithful companion for the last 10 years ... Oslo the black kitteh. My heart was hurting for her, so I made a memorial card to honor him using more washi tape and inchie stamps.
Here's to hoping my creative space is back to normal by next weekend.
Your index cards are amazing! If this is what you make in the midst of putting in new floors, then I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
By the way, your new floor looks great. Is it tile?

The flooring looks great! All of your cards are fun and creative, and the card for your sis is very thoughtful! I would love to send a card to your sis....please email her addy if you don't mind....Our 20 yr old kitty passed a few months ago, so we know how tough it is to lose a part of the family. Blessings, Angie

"discombobulated" is one of my favouritest words. I love your cards and good luck on getting order back when the floors are finished! :)
