Since I had so much fun doing it last year, I thought it would be fun to post my five favorite holiday cards of the year. I'll put an InLinkz post at the bottom, so if you also want to post your five favorites, we can share the love.
Here are mine in no particular order ...
1. This card was for the Shape-Up for the Holidays Prompt at Jingle Belles. I love that I got the rather complicated scoring & folding right on the first attempt ... I love the combination of patterns & colors ... and I really love that I finally used those cute little velvet deer that I had hoarded for over a year.
2. This design featuring a game *card* from Candy Land was for our *Deck* the Halls Prompt at Jingle Belles. I particularly love how every element in this design seems to come together to form something greater than the sum of the individual parts ... the funky die cut shape of the card ... the distressed polka dot background ... the punched peppermints together with the candy cane elements in the card ... and the sparkly sentiment. It still makes me smile.
3. I just love these wonky-eyed snowmen ... so much so that I purchased another set of these stickers to use in 2012 ... I also love the texture of the felt snowflakes in the sky. This was for the "Baby It's Cold Outside" prompt at Jingle Belles. I also loved Lauren's wonky-eyed snowman card she made (inspired by mine).
4. I love the tall shape of this card ... and how the velvet leaves and cardinal stickers visually move your eyes through the design. While this card for the Jingle Belles Holly & the Ivy Prompt looks rather complicated ... it was really just a case of letting this gorgeous (much too long hoarded) paper shine ... and it is so perfect for my bird-loving mother-in-law.
5. As I've said before, and will say again, the best part of card-making is making that *perfect* card for the people in your life ... like this Scrabble-themed Yeti card for my sister. While we live miles apart, we always make sure to connect each week ... sometimes over a few competitive on-line Scrabble games ... in which my sister invariably spells Yeti for a triple-word score ... and wins again. This card was for the Reindeer Games prompt at Jingle Belles.
If you'd like to do a new post to share your Five Favorite Holiday Cards ... link-up below. I'll leave it open until the end of the year. I'll pick one random participant to receive some holiday goodies to get you started on your 2012 holiday card making.
And don't forget ... if you want to take back December 2012 one holiday card at a time, join the fun at Jingle Belles starting soon.
