Lauren & I both freely confess to be lovers of typography. We're always exchanging cool ideas we find that incorporate words and fonts. So for this week's Jingle Belles Prompt we decided to go with a font-filled theme of ... Text Me.
We're aksing you to incorporate text into your holiday creations ... it could be a book page, Christmas carol lyrics, a poem, or even a card that features a sentiment as the main focal point of the design. To give you some ideas, I even created a Text-filled Pinterest Group filled with FONT-astic Fun (such a fun tool for saving inspiration I find surfing thousands of blogs each week).
For my texty design, I started with a vintage book page from a falling-apart copy of the Santa Claus Story Picture Book that I found at a benefit book sale for $1.00. I turned the page sideways and added a Tim Holtz Santa & Reindeer mask.
I sprayed the page with three different red ink sprays & glimmer mists, and then dabbed the ink puddles before removing the mask. I used my heat gun to help speed the drying.
I added a rub-on sentiment o the ink margin of the book page and finished with some gold ribbon to ground my sleigh ... and also for the Jewel Colors Plus Gold Challenge at the Gingersnaps Creations Blog. And my reindeer just didn't seem right without a red adhesive gem for the reindeer nose.
We hope you have fun creating with Text this week.
