This week's SCS Inspiration Challenge comes from the fabulous array of Christmas decorations found at Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. Bronner's was founded in 1945 by Wally Bronner. When Wally painted his first sign over 50 years ago, little did he dream that his small business would one day become the world's largest Christmas store visited by millions of people. Open 361 days of the year, Bronner's features over 50,000 trims and gifts, including Christmas ornaments, Christmas lights and collectibles.
My card was inspired by this Out for a Drive green car ornament from Department 56. We had a green car similar to this when I was little ... the main thing I remember is that you could start it without needing to have a key in the ignition.
When my dad came to visit last weekend, we went to one of his favorite places ... Duffy's Collectible Cars. I love listening to him tell stories about the cars and what makes each one unique and collectible, not to mention hearing stories about my grandfathers & great-grandfathers and their cars. I learn something new each time we go.
I stamped this vintage car image from Artistic Outpost's Route 66 once in Chestnut Roan ink and again in Deep Moss Green ink, so I could cut out the car and paper piece it into the design.
I added Memory Box papers (with some Distress ink sponging) and a sentiment and highway sign from the same Route 66 set. Just because this week's site features Christmas ornaments, doesn't mean it needs to inspire Christmas cards (but given how far behind I am on my holiday cards, a little Christmas inspiration never hurt).
Here are a few pictures from our trip to see the classic cars. My favorite was this gorgeous Buick Skyliner Convertible with a Continental Kit.
My Dad loves the unique cars like this 1954 Ford Victoria with glass moon roof in Flamingo Red & Coral ... one classy ride.
