This week's Challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog is one of my favorite techniques ~ Paper Piecing. It was the perfect technique for adding color to this adorable Peter Pan & Wendy image from Artistic Outpost's Neverland Collection. It's also a great way to use up those smaller paper scraps that are too pretty to throw away.
First, I stamped the image in Memories India Ink on White Cardstock. Next I stamped the image three more times ~ on yellow designer paper for Wendy's hair; on green paper for Peter Pan's outfit & hat; and on orange paper for Wendy's nightgown. Remember, you only have to stamp the part of the image that you're going to cut out, so you can use relatively small pieces of paper for each portion of your design.
In this case, their shoes were rather tiny, so I colored them (as well as their skin) with colored pencils (although I have been known to paper piece things that small).
I used the same paper that I used for Wendy's nightgown & Peter's outfit as my card base (another great way to tie in the patterns from your paper piecing ... I believe they're both K&Company).
I finished with a sentiment from the set, a border punch, some tiny celery adhesive bling along the punch design, and the wonderful hand-dyed seam binding from the Artistic Outpost Attic Finds (you can really see the wonderful variation in color near the knot and on the ribbon tails).
Wow!! I love the punch you used! Great image too - so classic :)
Thanks so much for entering the Simon Says Stamp Challenge!!!

LOVE this, Steph! I didn't know such a stamp set existed - you really brought it to life, and I love how you pulled the papers outwards to frame the image!

i love the stamps...and i love the paper piecing...but the AHA moment for me here is *EMBELLISHING* the punched border...and then layering it over that vibrant green so it shows through! BRILLIANT!!! (in every sense!) ♥♥♥
