This week's Challenge at the Basic Grey Blog is an Inspiration Challenge based on this yummy bowl of summer fruits.
How I managed to get from cool summer fruits to a Christmas card is unclear, but I always say you just have to go where the inspiration takes you.
I looked through my Basic Grey collections trying to find papers that reminded me of the fruit. I settled on a polka dot pattern from Porcelain and Maroon & Green papers from Eskimo Kisses.
I decided to use this week's 2 Sketches 4 You sketch, which seemed perfect for one of my favorite circle seal sentiments from CatsLife Press ... and hence, a holiday card was born.
I stamped some Snowflake Flurry from Stampendous and a very old Stampin' Up image (that has the teeny tiny snowflakes) & decorated the flakes with Diamond PSX Sparkles glitter glue for a bit of winter sparkle. The fine ladies at Daring Cardmakers are also celebrating Ice & Snow this week, so I'm not the only one thinking about snow on this steamy summer day.
Wonderful Christmas card, great take on both challenges.

A fabulous interpretaion of the sketch Stef, who knows how you got there (lol) but it works for me. Great combination of papers, fabulous snowflake flurry and cut sentiment.
Thanks so much for playing along with us at Basic Grey.

Tee hee, Stef, you must have had your mind more on the "cool" part of cool summer fruits than on the "summer" part! I love this card - and it really does evoke the inspiration photo in color and pattern! What a fabulous start on the holidays!
