The challenge at the Jacksonbelle Blog today is to make a card with a Valentine Theme (yes, it will soon be time to get those in the mail) ~ use keyword JBE089 if you upload your card to a gallery ... or just link it up to the Jacksonbelle Blog post. I wanted to see if I could make a masculine valentine, since those always seem a bit more challenging.
I'm going to be sad when I use up all of these wonderful Cupid Post Cards from Pink Paislee (I love when I get so many cards out of one piece of paper ... no waste). I thought this design looked a bit "grungy" and worked for a man-card. I wanted to emboss the background panels with a graphic design, but unfortunately I managed to knock my Cuttlebug off its table and break the handle right off. I have a replacement on the way, but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm going to have to find a safer place for it to perch.
So instead, I was inspired by the TV stand sketch from Everything But the Kitchen Sink and used the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain (and also works for the Hero Arts month-long theme to make cards for Friendship & Valentines). I resisted adding any embellishments, but I did stamp the small three hearts from a fun Basic Grey Delta stamp set to finish the design (the hearts on the stamp are the same size, but since it's acrylic it has a little "give" so I pushed slightly harder on the right side to get the variation in size).
And don't forget free shipping at the Jacksonbelle blog until Thursday (use keyword FREEJB at checkout).
