As those of you who have followed my blog know, we have a long-standing tradition of taking silly pictures for my sister when we travel (if you're a true glutton, you can also see Charlie Poppit & Brenda Walsh Returns to the Midwest). This year for Christmas, my sister gave my husband the Urban Dictionary Calendar. One of his favorite definitions has been: Hobosexual - Adjective. The opposite of metrosexual; one who cares little for one's own appearance. That inspired us to bring along Otto the ceramic Hobo on our Arizona adventure.
When we arrived at the wonderful Conifer House Bed & Breakfast in Flagstaff, Rod & Otto quickly checked out the comfy bed.
These were wonderfully private accommodations nestled in residential neighborhood on a dead-end street. I loved the layout with a central courtyard featuring outdoor seating (the cool Flagstaff mornings were some of the favorite weather I've ever experienced).
Otto was intrigued by the rubber ducky that was seated on the edge of the jacuzzi tub in the Kensington Room. It was so perfect to soak in after a day hiking at the Grand Canyon.
The breakfasts were also very delicious ... on the two mornings we were there, we enjoyed a very filling berry smoothie, light crispy waffles, and banana macadamia nut muffins.
On our way to Flagstaff, we stopped at the Montezuma Castle National Park. Otto was quite intrigued by the idea of living inside these cliff-side dwellings.
Otto (and Stephanie) were also fascinated by the wonderful texture and color found on the bark of the Arizona sycamore trees. The constantly shedding bark creates a fabulous mosaic of color like nothing we'd ever seen.
They were so tall and majestic growing in all sorts of directions. They require lots of water, so they are only seen growing along water sources.
Otto also had a great day at the Grand Canyon. This photo was taken at the look-out where we ate our picnic lunch and watched the ravens flying on the wind drifts.
Otto also joined us for a tour of the Sedona art galleries. He particularly enjoyed the large metal installations (he also helped Rod pick out his new Dudes shirt while we were shopping in Flagstaff ... a big shout-out to the super helpful staff at the Old Town Shops ... we had a lot of fun there too).
After Sedona, we unfortunately experienced the most miserable case of the flu we've ever had, so the rest of Otto's vacation was spent with us in our hotel room trying to recover.
Here's to you Sis ... hope you enjoyed Otto's adventures.

I love your pics with Otto visiting. I have a tiny little teddy bear called Ben (stands about 2 inches tall that I made in my teddybear making phase) who comes with me on holiday and insists he has he photo taken doing exciting things..... Glad Otto had a good time apart from the 'flu. Hope you are too - having a good time that is. Take care
