rarely make history ... that's what Beate's Inspiration card by Kate Spade reminded me of (and that is the sentiment I used on the inside of my inspired card).
I also used the Saturday Sketch from Trina McClune.
This card features new papers from the Sasha Paper Collection by Prima Marketing and the woman outline from Inkadinkado. I added a Studio G clear sentiment and Hello Friend from Sassy Silhouettes (love how you can bend the acrylic sentiments).

Sleep is calling, but sometimes you just have to stay up a bit longer and create.
Kristina posted her Color Inspiration #7 ... beautiful bedding from Restoration Hardware. I combined it with Beate's Weekend Sketch #45. I also broke out my new Romance of Spring set from Autumn Leaves (which Kristina enabled me to buy when I went shopping for her cute name tag stamp) combined with my Cornish Heritage Farms Pretty Pattern Backgrounder.
For a little more texture, I embossed the close to cocoa strip with the Cuttlebug textile embossing folder and sponged it with ColorBox Dark Brown ink. The center of the bloom is colored with prismacolor pencils.

I've been playing around some more with the file folder batik technique.
I used a standard shipping tag and stamped the Stampin' Up Always Heart and a Michael's $1 heart in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. The tag was sprayed with Strawberry Daiquiri Memories Mist.
After it dried, I ironed the tag between cardstock to melt off the embossing powder. The sentiment from Inkadinkado and heart trio were stamped with Black Staz-on. I got several of these great children's quote stamps from Stamper's Dream and the service was amazing ... I had them in two days.
I finished the design with a love ribbon and a pewter heart charm tied through the ribbon with baker's twine.
Did you see the cool things the Cornish Heritage Farm Design Team did with chalk today ... so many intriguing techniques. I had never tried the ChalkBoard Technique, so I broke out my I-Kan-Dee shimmer chalks to give it a try. I also wanted to do a card for Allison's Suggestive Sunday challenge using backgrounders & the Card Positioning Systems Sketch #62.
I stamped the Cornish Heritage Farms Lace Backgrounder twice with white craft ink on black cardstock (the finished size of this card is 4"x8", so I needed to two pieces to cover the entire front). I used a cotton pad to tamp on the chalk using various shades of pink, purple, red and a bit of teal. I love the shimmer and variation of color.
I used an All Night Media medallion punch on a scrap of the lace backgrounder for an accent (I cut the medallion out of the center of the square). The sentiment is from a new K&Company Amy Butler Lotus Greet Stamp set I picked up at Michael's. I made the border piece using the Martha Stewart eyelet border punch along each side.

Also, I received notice today that the challenges that Caardvarks had planned for National Scrapbooking Day have been canceled due to some scheduling issues. However, the cool projects I spent the weekend making will be showing up for the March 20th challenge.
With Mother's Day quickly approaching, I need to get all of my cards in the mail today. In addition to my mom, mother-in-law and grandmas, I like to send cards to a lot of the amazing mothers in my life because you can never over-emphasize the importance of great moms in the world.
This card is inspired by Ruby Red Swirls by today's SCS Featured Stamper Sf9erfan (Michelle).
I swapped out her cardstock for DP scraps, changed up the colors, and quickened the process by punching my flowers rather than stamping them (I have tons of flower punches that need to see more use).
The background is a scrap of K&Company DP (I think) that I embossed with the Floral Fantasy folder and sponged with Aquamarine ink to bring out the texture. The large flowers are punched from the same DP. I also added a Martha Stewart butterfly and eyelet punch (love this one) along the bottom edge. K&Company stickers finish the design.
I've had an entire day of creating projects for National Scrapbooking Day next weekend ... I'm so excited about the Challenges planned at Caardvarks ... there will be one challenge an hour for twelve hours, so plan to spend the day with us.
I have been wanting to try Taylor's Cupcake Challenge , and I really loved this week's sketch. I have quite a stash of clear dollar stamps, and this sketch was perfect for featuring these tiny cupcakes that I colored with Sakura glitter markers for some extra sparkle. I used 1", 1 1/8" and 1 1/4" circles for layering.
I stamped the background with my new favorite Flourish by Inkadinkado that I got from Random Arts. I also incorporated Sharon's Black Accent's Challenge to add a little pop to all of those bright colors ... a perfect birthday card for the stash.
Amy at Heartfeltgreetings has brought back her Super Sketch Sunday, so I wanted to give it a try. The challenge also included using 3 different designer papers as part of the design. I added some distressing to the design for the Daring Cardmakers Most Distressing Challenge.
I pulled out all sorts of papers in Ivory or Maroon from my scrap bin. The center is an ivory handmade embossed paper scrap. I sponged on Light Brown and Maroon ink and then wadded up the paper several times before inking some more.
I used my distressing tool around the edges and added darker brown ink to finish. I also distressed around the Stampin' Up sentiment and sponged lightly with brown. The center of the flower was inked with a Sakura Glitter pen and smudged with my finger.

This week's SCS Inspiration Challenge is the Safari Adventure Party in a Box. I've been thinking of my own party box ideas that would make such fun gifts (spa party, girls night out, etc.).
I loved the fun rubber duckies in their different safari attire, but since I didn't have any ducks in my stamp collection, I decided to dress up my cute little Penguin Pants Penguin instead.
I was also inspired by the vivid colors and the fun stripes on the napkin, ribbon and thank you cards. I cut up several paint chips and layered them onto the card base staggering the white stripes between the colors.
I stamped the penguin directly on the light green paint chip (I used a heat gun to get the ink to dry on the glossy paper). I stamped him two more times on scraps of blue and orange paint chips to paper piece his nose and penguin pants.
The sentiment is from Penguin Pants Pick a Celebration set. I paper pieced the heart in green for some contrast against the orange.
This will be a perfect card for one of my nieces or nephews.

I used the Penguin Pants Let's Play Games set in Versamark and Rouge on the pink cardstock background. I stamped the Have Fun sentiment in Rouge Chalk Ink on some cards from the Candy Land game and embossed it with clear embossing powder (the ink dries slowly on the glossy cards).
This was the perfect card for my niece Mehilah's third birthday (Happy Birthday MiMi).
This card uses the same Let's Play Games stamp set. I printed out a picture of a craps table from the Internet to feature on my card.

Kristina's Color Challenge #6 is inspired by this fabulous bedding from Mystic Valley Traders. I also used today's SCS sketch challenge & the Backgrounder Blitz challenge to incorporate at least two different CHF backgrounders into my creation - Scratched Grid and Pretty Pattern.
I inked the Hero Arts Wild Fairy Lily with Marvy Markers (Grass Green, Butter Yellow and Green) and spritzed the stamp lightly with water before stamping. I colored the Inkadinkado sentiment with markers as well.
