What a fabulous Saturday. We had a tiny hint of spring, so my husband and I hopped in the car, rolled the windows down, and went for a drive. We went to Outside the Lines, one of my favorite Iowa art gallerias, and to see The Savages at MindFrame Theaters. Wonderful day.
It's the 5th of April and that means a new Caardvarks Challenge ~ Flight of Fancy. The creative 'Varks Ladies have really outdone themselves on this one, so make sure you check out all of the fun DT cards. There is a fabulous set of Penguin Pants Stamps for the winner, so create your best card featuring wings and link it up by April 17th for a chance to win.
For my first card I decided to try to channel a bit of my inner Lauren and make an "artsy" creation.
I've borrowed these cool Paula Best wing stamps from my friend Laura (don't you love having friends who have stamp stashes) and decided to attach them to this image called Spring Dance by Ducks in a Row. I love their stamps ... does anyone know a good on-line source for them?
I inked Spring Dance using Lipstick Red and Chestnut Roan ColorBox Chalk inks on a piece of vintage sheet music and embossed using clear EP to coordinate with the Scenic Route Charlotte DP background.
The wings were stamped in Lipstick Red and embossed on the margins of the sheet music. I sponged them with Chestnut Roan ink and attached them using small glue dots near the body so I could curl them out for dimension.
I added tiny pink Hero Arts adhesive gems in the center of the blooms and on the Outlines Rubber Stamp Sentiment to finish the design.
Next I wanted to see if I could do a winged card for a guy since most wing ideas I had in my head were pretty girly.
I used this great sentiment stamp from Inkadinkado. The red DP is by Prima (got this as an RAK and I'm going to have to buy some more ... it is beautiful). I stamped a strip of Saffron cardstock with my Cornish Heritage Farms Scratched Grid Backgrounder (great for guy cards).
Martha Stewart border was punched on brown cardstock and then two rows were attached back-to-back before tying on sheer saffron ribbon to finish.
Remember photos are clickable for a more close-up view. Can't wait to see your Flight of Fancy creations.
And check out the fabulous Boodalee Bedding inspired creations.
well, of course i am HONORED to think i would inspire *anything* cool that you've made...but frankly...i'm not sure you NEED an "inner lauren" girlfriend--i think your INNER STEF does quite well on her own!
(ps: i love BOTH of these, btw, but the wingy dancer girl...yeah, i confess...she's my fave!) :)
