Sharon's (notimetostamp) challenge this week was to make a bookmark and coordinating bookmark holder. When I saw all of these fun reading and writing gift ideas on Sew, Mama, Sew, I knew I could translate the vintage fabric bookmark tutorial by How About Orange into a paper version.
In her tutorial, she used an Xacto knife to cut shapes out of the paper and then backed the openings with vintage fabric.
I used the Martha Stewart snowflake punch on my daisy d's Winter Fun DP and then backed the openings with a scrap of sturdy red cardstock DP to lend some strength to the bookmark. I backed it with a piece of gray flannel cardstock & added some sheer silver ribbon and this fun sentiment by Northwoods rubber stamps in ColorBox Charcoal ink to finish the bookmark.
The holder is made using Sharon's tutorial, however I made my pocket slightly shorter, so my bookmark ribbon peeks out of the top. I added a Rosie's Roadshow sentiment stamped on a scrap of the white portion of the DP and two punched snowflakes to finish the front.
This will be a perfect tuck-in for a Christmas book gift.
This is such a great project!!! LOVE your DP and punched out snowflakes!!! Everything coordintes so well together!!! So glad you could play and share -- thanks!!!
