For this card, I combined the Sketch & Color Challenge at My Favorite things. I decided to turn the blue & yellow into a bouquet ... and when combined with grey & black, it seemed like a sympathy card color combination to me.
I love this new wide Washi Floral Washi Tape ... the wider tape makes it much easier to cover the front of a card ... and the transparency of this tape allows it to have lots of different looks depending on your background paper.
This is how it looks on a darker blue cardstock. I added a lovely row of black pearls to accent my sentiment.
This is the same tape on light blue cardstock. One trick when you cover cards with washi tape is to burnish it with a bone folder to allow the background color to show through as much as possible.
I also love my Stitched Basic Edges 2 Die-Namics (with double stitches, so you can use either cut piece ... or both). I did some shopping in my flower stash to add a bit of embellishment, but it's still flat enough to be mailable.
A cardinal is often thought to be representative of a loved one who has passed.
When you see one, it means your loved one is visiting you. They often show-up when you most need them or miss them. I feel the presence of my dear mother-in-law every time I see one of the bright red birds in the tree outside our living room window.
Given this symbolism, the Cardinal Brads are the perfect embellishment for sympathy cards.
