How you spent your dash?

The inspiration at the 52-Card Pickup blog this week is this wonderful (short) video.  It explains that on your tombstone there will be the day you were born and the day you died, but the really important part of your life is "the dash" in between & how you lived that dash.  It stresses the importance of being true and real ... and loving people in our lives like we've never loved before.  Having lost several people very close to me much, much too soon ... I certainly concur.

My silhouette arrived yesterday, so I had to try out those cool Donna Downey hollyhocks.  I re-sized them for my card, but was equally intrigued by the shapes left behind in the cardstock.  I used those as a mask to sponge a few more hollyhocks onto my Memory Box paper.  The paper for the frame is actually some Halloween spider web paper.  I loved the varied shades of purple in the design.

Flowers always remind me of my Grandma and how much I enjoyed just spending time in her flower garden with her ... certainly one of the cherished memories of my "dash".  I also thought the sentiment from Hero Arts echoed this memory well.

For those of you who've mentioned problems cutting through thicker cardstock, there's a great video on the Silhouette blog that explains putting two images on top of each other to get the machine to cut through twice.
