Embrace Life

While I like embellishing a card as much as the next crafty soul, I really love when papers are beautiful enough to stand on their own.  When I saw the May sketch challenge at the My Mind's Eye Blog, I knew I wanted this lovely paper from their Lost & Found Blush Collection to be front-and-center on my design.

I added two more papers from the same collection for my broders with a bit of inky sponging.  I stamped a couple of banners from the MME Be Amazing Follow Your Heart set in maroon and finished with an encouraging chipboard sentiment ... embrace life.

It also works for this color challenge at the 365 Cards blog, as well as the Clean & Simple Challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Butterfly Birthday

My card for this week's SCS Inspiration Challenge was inspired by this cute little Rabbit Print Toiletry Bag from Graham and Green.

I thought i had a rabbit punch in my stash, but discovered my thoughts were incorrect ... so I went with a butterfly instead.  I went through my scraps and found various textures and colors ... perfect for the Moxie Fab World Paper Scraps Challenge.

I used the photo from Virginia's View Challenge to inspire the color choices for my butterflies (what a great way to use up cardstock scraps).

The Hero Arts sentiment from Essential Messages was stamped in India Ink.  I added a few adhesive pearls and a few wraps of black & white twine to finish the design.

Rogue CAS-ual Fridays

This week's CAS-ual Fridays Challenge is to create a card using:

1. A Pattern
2. An Image
3. A Sentiment

My pattern & image are both from Rogue Redhead Designs' Just Sayin' together with a sentiment from Bits & PIeces.  I stamped the flower on ivory handmade paper and then again on green to cut-out the center before adding an ivory adhesive pearl.

I'm also joining Crazy for Challenges where they're celebrating GREEN.

Wedding Love

Tonight I needed to make a wedding card, so I combined this week's Play Date Cafe colors (and wedding theme) with the Laura Bassan's fabulous card from CASE Study Challenge.

 

 

I stamped a vintage couple image from A Muse in charcoal (several have asked me if it's availble anywhere, and I am unable to find it) and added an EAD Designs rub-on sentiment.

The lacy paper is from the Sassafrass Mix and Mend Wee Bundle.

Eat Your Greens

Since the ability to be *punny* was pretty much a requirement in our home growing-up if you wanted to be included in family banter ... particularly during Sunday lunches at my Grandma's where the entire extended family was competiting for the stage ... I thought I would create another card for the Jest for the Pun of It Challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.

The sketch is this week's Cards for Men ... and the fun little stickerz are Irish Sweets from EAD Designs, and background Dandelion Paper from October Afternoon's Fly a Kite Collection.

 

Knit Happens

This week's CAS-ual Friday Challenge is Jest for the Pun of it ... to create a card using a pun or silly sentiment.  I used this week's Unscripted Sketch together with stamps from Kaspereks.

I used the argyle embossing folder & Core'dinations cardstock to try to look like knitted fabric.

Flashback Friday 20.0 ~ A Blog Hop Celebration

 Today, as the winner of Flashback Friday 5.0,  I'm playing along with the blog hop celebrating the 20th Flashback Friday Challenge.

The 20th Challenge is to re-post your first every black & white card design.  Mine dates all the way back to November 2007 for a challenge to let the designer paper shine.

This pretty much exemplified my card-making skills back then ... pretty paper ... piece of ribbon (or in this case velvet rick-rack) and circular element ... hey, it still works pretty well.

Dream Big Rock Star

Tonight, we were re-watching Scott Pilgrim vs. The World ... and I was inspired to make a Rock Star card.

I used Inchies from Inkadinkado & an Outlines square sentiment stamped in India Ink and took my design inspiration from this image from Inspired By with orange, black and a clean graphic design.

And this week's CASE Study card with all of tha great white space and the contrast of the colors with the black sentiment.

Rock on!

Turquoise Rose Rush

This week's SCS Inspiration Challenge is visiting the Everything Turquoise.  I chose this Rose Rush Rug to inspire my design.

I loved the graphic black and white design bordered by turquoise.  I stamped Hero Arts Large Flower Pattern in Black and bordered with it a thin strip of black cardstock & turquoise designer paper from Prima's Madeline Collection.

To finish, I added a sentiment from Hero Arts Find Joy and some coordinating Memory Box turquoise pearls.

Black & White Big Birthday Bonanza

When I saw the Black & White Challenge at the CAS-ual Friday blog, I immediately thought of a masculine birthday card (possibly becauase my stash at the office is completely depleted).

When I saw this week's Fall to Layout, the idea came together in my head.

I used all sorts of Hero Arts stamps with my favorite India Ink.
