I embossed along the top, and then again at the bottom, leaving the strip for my sticker sentiment (wish EBE had a better birthday set ... the only one I had was too big for this width of card). I added some Eyelet Outlet Enamel Dots and a my Prize Stag die cut from coordinating textured cardstock to make this a masculine design.
Now that I've taught you how to make Washi Tape backgrounds, you can have even more fun by die cutting those backgrounds into fun shapes. I created three different Washi Tape Backgrounds and Die Cut them with the Sizzix Top Note Die Cut for three different looks. For the first one I combined three different green Washi Tapes with some Bling Swirls for a fun birthday card for my Gran.
For the first card, I lined up the tape at an angle before die cutting and then added sticker sentiments and a fun Party Hat Brad on the head of the roundest owl for some birthday fun before attaching to a gold metallic card base.
This photo angle shoes you just how shimmery/reflective the gold in the washi tape is ... and how stinkin' cute is that owl in the party hat.
Here's a picture of the stamp, so you can see how the pattern was created.
Isn't it cook how it created the perfectly square grid .. love the ability to stamp with such precision (click through to the larger picture for the details).
Sentiments are from Paper Smooches Lots of Love. I used one of the angled Creative Corners for my Love You Sentiment and the magnetic Creative Corners to repeatedly stamp XO. I finished with a combination of stamped & punched hearts.
When I saw that redbugdriver was today's Featured Stamper at SplitcoastStampers, I knew I had to make a card inspired by one of her Inspiration Challenge designs. She's always one of the faithful for that Saturday Challenge, and I always appreciated that so much.
I pulled out my Hipster Animals and added an almost equally rockin' mustache to my dog. Sentiment is from the new Irreverent Birthday Messages (because doesn't a dog wearing a fedora & glasses scream *irreverent*).
The inky smudges were originally a mistake (note to self, clean extra ink off the MISTI cover before stamping again), so I turned them into a design element by adding more ink to the MISTI cover and strategically placing more smudges to create a background for my abstract blooms ... a happy accident.
To bring in the textural element of the shutter in the background, I scored lines after stamping. Sentiment is from AltENew Label Love. Bling is from Eyelet Outlet.
