Color Me Happy

Colormeprettywm

I finished up a couple more of my projects from Inspired.  This project was from a mini-class called Color Me Happy taught by Netalia Riggle, a local scrap-booking instructor.  It's one of those projects that took much longer to assemble than it did to actually decorate.

The base is empty ribbon spools on dowels.  The instructions called for attaching the rows of spools using a Crop-a-dile and ribbon, however, the lip of my spools was so small, there was no way to get it punched with any of my punches.  I finally used my awl to poke the holes, but then I couldn't get them large enough to thread through the ribbon, so I settled on 28 gauge jewelry wire in a coordinating color, which actually worked great.  I tied pieces of ribbon on the ends to keep the spools from sliding off.  I used brads to attach the ribbon hanger to the back of the spools.   Now I'm saving my empty spools to make another one.  This project features my dear friend and her adorable son ... one of my favorite photo subjects whenever I get to visit.

I also finished my very fun 'scrapbook on cedar lawn edging' project taught by Jennifer Stewart ... yes the same Jennifer Stewart who helped Cathy Zielske overcome her fear of glitter.  I, however, did not overcome my glitter issues (I knew if I applied glitter to my panels, my entire suitcase would be glitter-coated upon return from my trip), but I did fall in love with this project.  Next time we're at the home improvement store, I'll be buying more edging to make another one.  It arrived at my brother Mike's in time for Father's Day ... he's a fabulous dad & my nieces are truly adorable ... if I do say so myself.
